I was driving around 35mph and I the gears did something. I pulled over and it sounded like something wat rotating and hitting something? I push in the clutch and it would slowly stop and the noise would go away. I can put it in gear and it moves but then it will stop moving and not want to move. It is coming from the tranny area. Its not tho motor. No problems to let me know something was wrong. It sounds like it would if a rod were broke. But like I said its not the motor. I can also feel it when it hits coming up thru the stick. So two questions.
1. what do you think it is
2. does anyone have a way they can help me get it home. It is at the rave movie theater in west chester (right off the union center exit on 75) and needs to go about 5 miles to my home in mason.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If all else fails Sean, my buddy has a roll back and charges $45 but can do it any time you want.
PM for info if needed.

You did what i did to my five speed, did it happen when you hammered third, regardless, you broke some internals in the trans and it is binding up from the pieces getting jammed up. My car locked the rear wheels up in the road, i could rev it up and dump the clutch, it would unjam and sound horrible, but it got me home. Get her built or find another. Good Luck

Might just be a clutch issue.

I would very much like a clutch issue but the clutch seems to be functioning right. Easliy going in and out of gear while running. I was not being hard on it when this happaned lower rpms as well???? Keith is coming to get me and I will go from there. open to any ideas, so if anyone has one...

Need a little more info but sound like what happend to my cousins saleen his flywheel cracked then we tried to limp her home and a big chunk flew through the bell housing. But when it cracked sounded kinda like a rod knockin :dunno:

I heard the car when I picked it up. There is something definitely broken somewhere. Sounds to me like it is in the bell housing. And given that when the car was off, trans in neutral, it rolled forward and backwards with no noise tells me the gears may be fine. Something is knocking around in the bell housing though. Hope it is a minor fix.

blown86lx I am thinking you right on. It def sounds like a rod knocking,(its not) When you push in the clutch sittiln still wiuld the noise go away?

snapped the input shaft?

Would the car still be able to move under it's own power with a snapped input shaft? He drove it off my dolly , up his driveway, and into his garage. It was clunking and banging all the way but it did move under it's own power.

Still sounds like trans, i could push my car all i wanted, it would just beat and bang driving it, and the noise would go away with the clutch in. My money is still internal on the trans, your symptoms sound just like mine were. But i do hope it is something cheaper for you though. Good Luck

Might just be a clutch issue.

That's what I was thinking. But I'm not a mechanic

I say it has a 4cyl 5 speed in it and broke the shaft .

I say it has a 4cyl 5 speed in it and broke the shaft .

it can't be the shaft it moves on It's own. I say It's a broken tooth on one of the gears.

it wouldnt do it at an idle it would only do it under a load, or if you reved it real quick (snapped the throttle). But yes if you had the clutch pushed in it was alot les noticable. Let me know what you find im curious now;) but i will almost bet this is your problem!!

at idle out of gear and clutch out there is a banging noise. Clutch in and in or out of gear and the noise will go away in 5 seconds or so. Its a spinning noise that sounds like it is slowing down. But no niose at all at low rpm and when I hit the gas.

well I went and got another tranny and its the wrong one. looks like its out or a 84 model mustang/capri. 13-52-066-936. AND I also found out the one that was in my car belonged to an 87 t bird turbo 4 cyl???? Crazy. This car has been done with custom x pipe exhaust, frame tied, cammed bored .30 over and a bunch of other stuff and they stick a freaking 87 turbo 4 cyl tranny in it???? If anyone has any kind of use for this tranny i have let me know. I still need one for my 92 5.0.
