They'll prolly give ya the run around and claim it wasnt their fault.
EVERY tire shop should have the plastic head for the tire machine for when they do custom wheels...

Those still scratch
I had a 97 eclipse gsx last year and had some work done and when I got the car home I noticed the rim was bent all to hell. So bad I couldnt believe it held air. Looked like a can lid after using a can opener. I went back and they said no way they did that. I look very close before I leave now and take pics when I drop it off. Who did the work for you?

I do the same thing if it is the first time at a place. Once I trust the guys, I will drop off my stuff and say call me when it is done. Sometimes I talk too much. ;)

I do that as well. I had a good experience with Dave Chutney's Goodyear off Fields Ertel recently. Getting tires off the rims off the Z06 is a bitch; they took their time and did it right.

My biggest pet peeve is when they forget to take the wheel weights off and turn the wheel with the arm down. Of course the weight gets caught infront of the arm and it perfectly strips the finish most of the way around the rim. This happened to me at TD a few years back when I went in to get a company vehicles' flat repaired. Apparantly the Jacka$$ at the counter thought I was a moron and gave me the "there's no way we could have done that" line. I had to walk out into the shop with him and show him how on the tire changer. When asked the tire jockey admitted to it. The manager asked what do you care it's your companys not yours. I had to remind him that the truck only had less than 8,000 miles on, the window sticker in the glove box reads $45,xxx and also that I wasn't a jackass. After an hour of debate instead of replacement/ or repair we negotiated for tires on another vehicle in my fleet.
Good luck.

Always do a walk around with the shop manager before having a car worked on.
Have them document any flaws, or damage and both parties sign off on it, and make them give you a copy. If they don't want to do it, or balks in any way, go elsewhere. Doing this is in both parties best interest.
I hope they make it right for you.
Let us know.

Ill never forget about 7 years ago I took my Accord to Midas to have the front rotors done(pressed on garbage!). I just bought a set of brand new wheels like two weeks before. I gave them the socket to use so they wouldnt scratch the hell outta the wheels. What do I find when I go to pickup the car? Both front wheels gouged to hell and back around the lug holes. I bring this up to the manager and he swears up and down they were already like that. I go out to the car and grab the reciept for the brand new wheels and he throws a fit saying Im lying. I go through the process of sending pictures to the general manager and then even his boss at their main office. They basically told me to get f**ked. Ill NEVER let those kinda places work on my car ever again.

I've been sorta lucky, I have been going to a local tire shop for my tires since I've been driving, and the guy is a real people person and loves to take care of his customers. Doesnt mind that I walk out in the shop, heck even most of his guys know me pretty well. Soo far they have taken good care of me.
I go there soo much that I dont even have to ask to get my wheels balanced on the backside, they already know, lol

Well, you gotta figure since most of them are just independant franchises, I could see why that happened.
Post up who you have used and who you trust. I have a guy off of cincinnati dayton by 75 called automotive one I use from time to time. Owner is Shannon and the number is 779-0100. I have known him for at least 12 years. AND lets not forget dawsons here in mason.

Yeah, not this time. This was the one over in Anderson. The manager there was a complete asshole too. I had the receipt showing the wheels were brand new and they didnt even care. Got to the point where they just ignored me and wouldnt return my calls.
For getting tires mounted and balanced I head over to the Tire Discounters in Mt.Orab. Its only 10 bucks per tire and they are nice guys. I always stand around in the shop and bullshit with them while they are doin it too.

Went over and talked to the manager this afternoon. He came out and looked at my wheels said that he would take care of it.He told me that he would send them up to Cliff Jacobs place and have them fixed. He told me that he would even get me a rental to drive.Hopefully everthing will work out.He did try to say how do you know that we did it:screwy:I kinda got a little ofended by that one.

Cliff Jacobs is the man for the job.Does very very good work.
I try to mount and balance my own tires.I cant balance 8 lugs at my work yet since I dont have the largest wheel centering piece for the large 8 lugs wheels.

As far as cleaning,I dont think he does that.Do they need a good buffing or is some thing wrong with them?
Either way,Cliff would know.Ive been using his business since 2000 when I sent my first bent rim to him.And have never looked elsewhere.I can usually drop my rim off that morning and pick it up at about 3 or so.Kinda depends on what type of rim it is.

I got them used 2 years ago and i've tried buffing, polishing just about everything to get them looking new again and nothing seems to work.

well here is my input from both sides of the fence, and yes if anyone wants tires as always they can call me or message me on here. And no i cant give them away, we are a corporate store, I can give you a fair price and good service tho.
Only one person i see posted suggested recommending to ANY shop that you walk around the vehicle first with the shop. We dont have a check off list ect, but I do a brief walk around on every vehicle, and any damage is noted, and if I deem we can get blamed I talk to the customer in a way such as you do realize your bumper is missing and door is caved in right?
People want to blame any shop for anything wrong with their car, we get so many bullshit complaints its hard to weed out the legit ones. But dont go into a shop that damaged something of yours and act like a ranting lunatic, it wont help the situation.
I cant recall how many times we have put tires on a car and someone claims the curb rash (you know ground 1/4" off the lip type stuff, not paint missing only stuff) wasnt there before they came in, or we put tires on and now there motor knocks ect. People never want to admit they hit a pothole/curb, or the famous i was just driving down the road and the tire just blew out! no warning, even tho it was roaring flat for 15 min before, weaving all over the road, it just blew out!. So take your issue up politely and if the shop is reputable they will take care of it, if they are at fault.

btw dave im pretty sure cliff doesnt do any polishing, just straighten and painting. Ask craig he uses someone up there for polishing near his shop. A few guys around here also do it in there spare time. I did my intake and thought about doing it on the side till i forgot how much of a pain in the ass it was after 20 hours on that intake hah.

I haven't done tires for about 12 years, but those almost look like marks from a tire spoon? Maybe Mustangjon could chime in. He is more familiar with the newer equipment used today.
I'd be pissed too! It's bad enough when you screw up your own brand new stuff, but when you pay someone, and they screw it up it really rubs salt in the wound!
I really hope they step up and take care of his with as little hassle as possible for you.

Looks like a mark from where they broke the bead loose. And they used the wrong machine with the metal bead breaker.

The wheels are not brand new but pretty damn close to new.I thought it was from the dismount of the old tires too.I'm just a little curious about how they intend to fix them its not the outer lip its behind the lip between the lip and the tire.I'm going to take my camera when i drop them off I'm going to take alot of pics after they dismount the tires to get a better view of the rim.

I would have to say, probably bead breaker as already stated (hard to see in those small of pics) But even i have done it before, on some old crappy wheels, was in a rush ect. But custom wheels i always take extra care, hell if I sell high end 500+ per wheel type stuff I dont even let my tire guys usually change them, they do only get paid 7.50 an hour .
