You guys are not going to believe this. I finished my first cleaning job and when I walked in the door, my brother says I have to see something. I walk over to the motor that came out of the van and there under the valve cover in between the cam lobes in a spent .223 casing. No idea how it got in there. We bought the van in 2004. Never had the valve covers off. Kind of weird.
Secondly, there is a ton of slack in the timing chain. I am thinking that is where all the noise was coming from. Who knew. Oh well, the new motor is going in anyway. We already have most of the stuff transferred over.

Thanks to all who lended moral support and a hand here and there.

The motor turns!!!! When we put on the PTO pully, the crank pully didn't move at all. We had a thought that the motor may be locked up. We sprayed penetrating oil in the intake tract before the intake got bolted on last night. Well, we just threw a battery in it and bumped the motor over and it moved. Thank God!! Torque converter bolts going on now. Starting it soon!!

Ok. Just put the new intake manifold gaskets in. They are in right this time. Taking a little break before we bolt it back down and reinstall all the coils. Re connect the wires to everything then start it again. Slow but sure, we should have it running tonight!!!!
