I have an 06 gt with 21000 miles, went to install a set of ford racing 4:10 gears. the problem is no mater how much I tighten the bolt for the pinion with the "crush sleve" it still has a lot of play on the ?yoke? I called jeg's b/c there the only ones I could get a hold of and they said it is possible that the pinion came to long from ford????? Please help... I used the ?die? and everything is tracking good on the gears....

Sounds like you haven't crushed the crush sleeve yet. If you can move the pinion in and out, you haven't crushed it. It takes a lot of torque to do this.

Yeah, I believe the torque spec to crush the sleeve is like 250 ft-lbs. I'm pretty sure you can get a solid spacer from the aftermarket if you want to go that route.

did you get the sleeve crushed? dont over do it because you only want 25 in/lb maximum rotating torque on the pinion it self

Just reading all that makes me glad I pay someone to do it.

I have to use the BIG GUN from work(snap on strongest 1/2 impact) to crush those sleeves.A solid pinion spacer would do the trick, its what I use on all of MY cars. The Crush sleeve is a pita to crush.;)
