Anyone upgraded 4cyl brakes??

Do I need to replace everything?

Brake booster is different. and I've HEARD that the proportioning valve is also different but I have compared them and see no difference.

Now if you are doing an 8.8 in the rear... that will be fun. You have to find the bracket that rivits to the underside of the body, then run the brake line from the passenger side to the drivers side into the top of the bracket, then get the 8.8 brake hose.

Other than that, that should be it. Spindles/rotors/calipers/bearings have pretty much already been said.

rear will come later.
just doing the fronts now.

I am slowly getting the car back to road worthiness. Not really all that much to do though. Then we will decide if it's going to get the V8 or 2.3L Turbo.

+2 on that!! Right now I am running 21lbs of boost and it's SOOOOO much fun. Need to re-ring the engine though, she's getting tired.

I switched the coupe over to 8.8 rear and GT front brakes, but I didn't change the MC or booster. Stops fine for me.

Rubber lines are the same if I remember correctly, I had to get an adapter for the rear lines to mate up. But yeah, spindles, rotors, calipers.

I think the V8 booster holds more vacuum?

Rubber lines are different. Atleast they were on the '86 v8 cars to the '87 v8 cars.

I was contemplating on doing this myself, but i decided to just wait and do this work once when i finally go 5 lug.

Then you would have to go with grand Marquis wheels instead of your awesome ARE's

Yeah not sure what i'll do then...probably put the 16s in storage and hord'em

That's the conclusion i came to. Yeah the 4 cylinder brakes blow but for the money and work i'd rather just wait for a 5 lug swap and do it right.

Yep :D

But then ya gotta beat me to all the cheap PBR calipers/brackets and 94-95 spindles that are always for sale on here before I buy them up... So far I've got 2 sets of PBR's and 1 set of spindles...

Now if I could only find some 31 spline 4 lug axles.....
