Who came up with the idea that "trade" value needs to be higher if you want to trade? Really? What makes some ones $3500 clunker worth $7000? And what makes my $7000 clunker worth the $3500 clunker? Follow me so far?
I get so tired of seeing trade value, What you are selling is worth what you are willing to take and what some one is willing to pay.

Im not willing to take half of what I price my stuff at in trade because you think your stuff is worth more on trade. Sell it and buy mine or I will sell mine and do the same. Jeesh :screwy:
Dont get me wrong. I will drop a little and even consider a lesser value but not $2500. I look at what items like I have are selling for and price around market value. Sometimes I price a little higher knowing some one will try to get me down on price but thats about it. I dont think what I have is worth twice the value in a trade offer.

I know what you mean. For me, selling is simple. I give the price i want to sell, and that's that. No lowballing, no offers. Take it or leave it. I don't ask for more and expect to be haggled.

I understand, value is value... if someone is selling their item for $3500 then thats what is worth (they put the value on it) and if someone else wants to trade something for it and the person doesnt think its worth what they do, then fine, just say that. The idea of your stuff gaining value because you are trading it, sounds nuts to me! I too have had peolpe say that they have something currently for sell (like on craigslist) for one price but now they want to trade me and suddenly its worth $2000 more! When I said that was to much difference , he tryed to tell me thats how trading worked... so if thats true, then mine should have gone up in value too, because I would have been trading it! sorry to rant in your rant Bo, but I feel were you are coming from

This is the same BS as KBB value differences when you look at dealer selling price or private owner selling price. The value of something shouldn't be any different depending on who sells it. Is a $20 bill worth more from a bank than it is from me?

thats not always true, we average about $1200 per vehicle on reconditioning

all places don't do that, but we do on our used cars, plus the fact we can offer real ford extended service plans because we have serviced the vehicle

there is value to going to pick up a car that has new brakes on it, ball joints, etc...

again, all places dont adhere to that philosophy though

Yeah there's a difference between a certified used vehicle from a real dealership vs. a used car from Joe Shmoe's clunker lot where he used tire shine to clean up the engine bay and wiped the oil leaks up and now wants twice what it's worth.

People who post trade value higher.
One dont really want to trade unless is really worth it.(who wants to try and sell 2 things for the same money)
Two People upping there price because everbody thinks there going to be lowballed.
I dont think that the owner sets the "value" they set the price... The market and economy sets the "value".

Again, why is my item any less value then theirs if the market value is the same. $1000 is $1000 not $500 because I have it in my wallet. If I want the cash for an item I dont except trades to try to sell.

And I said on some items I ask more knowing I will get chewed down. I post parts for my price. They dont sell I keep em. I will use it on something. I wont give them away. Eventually I sell at my price or trade for something I want.

Sorry but "trade" value is bullshit. Market value is market value trade or not.

The trade value (your bike) isnt worth less. but if they cant get it cheap its not worth taking the trade.
I agree that people have balls to say they will take say 4k cash for somthing and then say its worth 7k on trade.:flipoff:
I only take the trade if its somthing I really want or can sell to make a profit.
