I have a set of gt-40 heads off of a 96 explorer. These are not the p heads. The engine ran great but had wrist pin rattling.Asking $325

none of my business but if they are off an explorer they are p heads just want people to know what they were gettin so nobody has problems on here

soslow...thats not correct, alot of 96's have gt40's and not the p's, just to keep the facs straight

what kind of rocker arms and would you be willing to trade heads for a set of 289 heads with 1.94-1.60 valves

Yep i think earlier Explorer's had the gt-40's and later had the gt-40p's

all 96 explorers had true gt-40 heads, the p heads werent introduced until 1997. this is one of reasons it is difficult and more expensive to purchase 96 explorer engine. it was a 1 year only set up.

Just to clarify since these are sold anyways, it was mid '97 when the heads switched to P heads. Anything pre '97 is non P, anything '97 is hit or miss depending on build date and anything after '97 is all P.
