I have done a little research on this and I believe the input shaft i totally different. I remember something about the 94-95 5.0 t5s possibly working, but you might want to research that a little more.

Yes the 94-95 v8 and all v6 trans have longer input shafts, longer bearing retainers, and different bellhousing. An older T-5 can be used if you have someone swap you input shaft and bearing retainer. The gear ratios are different also.

So I could use a 94-95 v8 t5 and it would bolt right in my 98 v6? I have never found a for sure answer to this

I am not 100% they are the same v8 to v6 but I do know if your input shaft and retainer are good you can use them with a v8 trans. I have used V6 t-5 in Foxs by using the Fox bellhousing,Input and retainer.
