Grrrrrrrrrrrr...... I hate rain.
So this weekend is Mother's day, wife, kid, and myself pack up and go to her mom's house in Pike Co. to celebrate the weekend. On the drive got some rain no biggie. We roll in at midnight or so. Move ahead to 5am and someone is knocking on the door saying move your vehicles. We all get up and see the creek rising very fast. Katie and I head out to find a towstrap or chain to start moving the Mustang. Can't get to the local WhiteTrashMart, as the road is flooded out in a few places. We did traverse one to just get stopped farther on down the road.
We then wait for a bit to see if the creek will crest and go back down. At 7am, we see the creek is just getting higher and higher. Finally get ahold of someone that has a chain. Run back to just see the creek at the wheels of the mustang. By the time, I have the chain hooked up and ready to tug, the water is 6" deep and still rising. Move the mustang to the spot seen in the pic. It's original spot was at the corner of the building in the picture. The bottom of the door is about 2.5' above the ground.

This pic kind of shows that the house is just but an island in the see of creek water.

Thankfully, the water got high, but not high enough to run into the house and destroy everything. Another 2", this would be a whole different story. The mustang did get some water damage, but not that bad. The monte in the background got water up to the bottom of the windows, outside and inside. :(
Long story, short: Build your house and garage high from flood waters.
Thanks for reading.
