After 22 years of being with State farm it's time to say goodbye starting tomorrow. I have as good a driving record as a insurance company could want or expect but yet my premiums just keep going up. Only 2 clams that were small during this entire time. My 2008 truck as increased twice in less then 8 months and each time they have an excuse. 10% increase on the same truck effective this past April 1st. Spoke with my insurance agent and he states that state Farm is increasing everyones' premiums based on the fact there hasnt been any rate increases for the past 6 years. Of course they wait until the economy is bad and people are out of work to do so. The first insurance company that quoted me a price was actually cheaper with more coverage being offered then State Farm. I blame myself for not shopping around earlier. My current insurance agent kept reminding me of my guaranteed renewal policy I have with state Farm regardless of any accidents I may be involved with. Of course they dont guaranteee they wont raise your rates so high you cancel your policy on your own. I will never do buisness with State farm again. Between my cars and house to include 2 teenage daughters I pay over $5000.00 dollars a year in insurance. All kinds of multi car discounts, special accident free discounts, good student discount and yet it all adds up too bull****. If you have State Farm insurance you may want to shop around. If not expect a rate increase effective this year.
if you havent already signed with an agent. I have a long tome friend with allstate named fred copley. He beast everyone most of the time. I will be leaving progressive in a few months to go with him. I am not with him yet because I didnt know any better either. Progressive has been charging me a reinstatment every 6 mos of @ 300 just to have a 120 a month payment. Now thats 120 a month for 2 cars with full and 1 with liability. Fred will be close but I will not have a reinstatement every 6 months and startup is just 1 payment. Anyone wanting to at least give my friend a chance to beat your current coverage let me know. It can hurt to find out.
Pm me and I will get you his number. I used him a lot when I sold cars and hi is very nice.

As an all lines licensed agent in the State of Ohio, I highly recommend shopping around at a minimum of 2 years. Your agent cannot control the premium unless he starts taking off endorsements. The key is finding an agent that will explain the endorsements, and then you can decide if you want to accept the risk, or pass it onto the insurer via increased premium. Good luck with your search.

I can tell you this is a flat out lie.
I have State Farm and just got informed my rates were decreasing.
Sounds like a bad agent, not State Farms doing. Before you switch I would call State Farm and a couple other State Farm Agents. Sounds like yours is a turd.

My fiance just switched her 05 escape to state farm from Geico and is saving $120 a month... She was dishing out 190/month-granted their is a horrid accident history involving several vehicles and Facemelter's coupe- but nobody would even come close to that for her currently. I have always been taken care of- even in times when I probably shouldn't have.
I did just have a child and am about to turn 25 so my rates have pretty much always been on the decline unless I added coverage or policies.
I've had over $5,000 in comp claims and a few tickets as well.
I give less than $2,500/year for full coverage on my escape and fukus with no deductibles, liability on my ram, and my house for 250k. I was extremely surprised especially considering the old ladys demo derby past....

We have state farm and love them. House and cars. We've done fire, flood and hurricane claims. Accident claim on one of the cars (may it rest in peace) too. I sure hope you just have a bad agent because I would hate to leave them after they have been so good to us.

I've been with State Farm like I said for 22 years and have an excellent record. During this entire time I've been married and my wife has never even had as much as a parking ticket. I've had one speeding ticket in the past 15 years and that was years ago. It may be my agent and if so the way I see it is he represents State Farm and I'm done with the entire company. I did contact State Farm Corporate though by e-mail last night after posting on this site and they did call today asking for me. Evidently their calling me back tomorrow so I'll give them a chance to explain things. I'll let everyone know what I find out but true or not my agent did say that their increasing their premiums on everyone. They dont call and tell you your premiums went up it just shows up on your monthly bill with a note on the bottom of the policy. With only one car insured a person may not notice a few dollar difference but when you have multible cars it adds up. Dont get me wrong I dont have a problem paying a fair price but I taking getting screwed personal. A good example is the 2000 GT I just purchased and placed full coverage on. They quoted me $78.00 dollars a month for full coverage which is the highest premium I've ever paid. My new truck is $60.00(they just raised it to $66.00). I had a friend who also has State Farm call up and get a quote on the same vehicle and they told him $36.00 a month. This is for the same coverage. I questioned my agent about this and he had no explanation. Of course I couldnt give my buddys name to him as a reference but it did make my agent nervous when I brought this up. For those reading this you'll figure there must be some explanation or past history to justify State Farms rates but those few on the site who do know me can tell you that Im a straight up no bullshit type of person who doesnt exaggerate or lie. My mistake is believing that State Farm has had my best interest at hand and other then paying my monthly bill I didnt bother much with it.

My rates with State Farm recently dropped about $27/month when I renewed this month. Does SF use your credit score to base rates? Maybe something changed?

I did when I got married 8 months ago. I have 5 cars insured 4 with full coverage and 1 with just comprehensive. $100 deductible for collision on all and $0 deductible for comprehensive on all.
I pay $203 a month total. No other insurances came even close.
Plus when I got sued a few years ago State Farm handled everything. Attorney fees (I am guessing close to $10,000).
I have had State Farm for 10 years now with 1 speeding ticket 30+ over and 1 accident my fault and I have never had my rates increased.

I have excellent credit and between my wife and I our debt to income ratio is well within range and probably better then most. Paid cash for the Mustang and Taurus and live in a house thats worth more then twice what I owe on it. I have excellent credit and put money down on the new truck I purchased not including my trade in that was paid for. If that was even close to the problem then my agent could have easily used that as an excuse. The rate increases were effective as of April 1st according to my agent. They did offer to lower my rates by decreasing my coverage. In my opinion they raised all the rates on all my cars because I have 2 teenage drivers. Both girls with the good student discount and every other discount available. So far any other insurance company I've looked at have been more then pleased with my credit rating. My current State Farm agent is now trying to jump thru hoops to keep me.

What age are your girls????
If of driving age, you're screwed.
But other things to worry about right? Beating the boys off with bats?????
Glad I had a son!

Sounds like your agent is grifting you. If your budy called and got quoted for half of what your paying for the same vehicle and coverage it's not the company. I wouldn't right off the whole company because of one representative. If I walked away from every automotive brand after dealing with one asshole salesmen I would be riding my trek to work everyday. Does your friend have driving age children in his home??

Not sure where you are at. But when I had State Farm in Ohio I used Virgil Lovett in Sharonville.
Great folks to deal with. Give them a call and see. Your agent sounds a little shady.
As all you have stated has not been true with my agent.

Virgil Lovitt is dead, his son took over that location, his daughter and her husband have a State Farm office at Route 4 and Seward in Fairfield. Virgill II is/was the mayor of Sharonville.
My State Farm insurance was thru them, good people.

I have been with State Farm for a few years. Even with one accident (wife) and two tickets (one each), the rates haven't gone up.
I would suggest you run a credit check on all three: Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax. You may have something reporting bad (as in fraud).
As far as insuring the kids, if they drive, I would talk with your agent and get them listed on the cheapest cars to save cost. The good agents will work with you on this. Also make sure any extra cars are set for recreational/low mile use for lower rates. I would still look into switching agents, and definitely shop around regularly. If someone else can get you the coverage, has a good track record and is cheaper go for it.
I was with Erie for ~6 years with my parents, but lost them when I went out on my own. Parents have had them for ~18 years now. I kept the agent and started up with Drive Progressive for a few years, it was pricey (22y/o with a 2dr sports coupe), but cheaper than any of the alternatives. I then got married, the last of my points dropped off and I switched over to State Farm, and my wife's family's agent. My old agent couldn't get me any better deals. Both agents would bend over backwards for our families. That is something you don't get out of some of these cookie cutter insurance stores.

I think May has a agent scamming him. While you do this checking J.R.
Try asking State Farm (when you talk to the company, not your agent) about the woodburner in the garage, if it's insurable since it's not a block building.
I'll say something tomorrow at the party.

If it was anything to do with my credit the agent would have jumped at the opportunity to use that as an excuse. Every other insurance company I have spoke with was more then pleased with my credit rating. If there was an issue they would have mentioned it quickly to justify their ratings. I do have a 16 and 18 year old daughters that have their own cars, and they are insured on the Taurus and my truck which is cheaper then the Mustang GT or my wifes Fusion. With having 2 teenage drivers I fully understand that my insurance is going to be higher and I dont dispute that. Such was the case when my son first got his license and I bought him a Mustang GT. I dont mind paying more when I understand why but in this case they placed the 16 year old as driving the Fusion because it has a side airbags and other safety features. The Mustang though actually hers has me listed as the primary driver. So with this being said at 42 and a almost peerfect driving record they quoted the almost 10 year old Mustang at $78.00 a month which is the highest premium I've ever paid for any vehicle I have had. Too be honest with you I think they raised all my premiums just because I have two teenage drivers. Even though my agent says they dont do that. Theres actually no other explanation for it and other then my agents excuse of State Farm raising their rates effective March 1st he has no defense.

I'm not sure how, I write my check to State Farm, not to the agent. Does the agent get an increased percentage of the rates? I guess I could ask my agent...:o

Good to hear everything is good on that side. Working in credit, you would be surprised how many people think theirs is golden when someone steals their identity and leaves a black mark on their record. My thought was the agent, might not have access to that since there are Federal credit privacy laws that limit what a rep can see and/or discuss with their customer.

Hey guys, I haven't been able to find any cheaper car insurance than the company I have. I use State Auto...they are out of Columbus, OH. I've checked them all...GEICO isn't even close and State Farm is even higher...of course that's for me and you may be different.
I do have excellent credit and that might help, but they also give a lot of discounts. I get a multi-car discount, a discount because I insure my house with them, a "prime of life" discount you get when you're over 45 (I'm 48), plus the usual things like security system discount, etc. I use "Insurance Services" down in Wilder, KY. I started with Beckmeyer Insurance when they were down in Newport (they had been there forever), but they joined this other outfit in Wilder a few years back.
It can't hurt to call and you might save some money. I talk to Joe Beckmeyer who is Don's son (Don owned "Beckmeyer's" back in the day) @ 859-431-2000. I know Joe personally since I used to play softball with him years ago plus Don knows me through my ex's family. Tell Joe that Dan Ford sent you and you may be surprised at the rates...I haven't been able to find anybody cheaper no matter who I look at. Good Luck.
