I have a stock 00 Vert, with 5 speed...I am in the process of putting the Eibach drop springs on, and a pypes offroad x pipe and catback. Other then the tires/wheels and the few things I have posted the rest is stock. I have been thinking about a gear change but wanted to see what anyone else may think about this change. Is it to much gear etc.?

They really like a 3:73. You will need to have it tuned if you put a 4:10, just because of the rapid acceleration. The computer won't like it. But with a tune it will fly!

Go with the 4.10s, the SOHC cars love the RPM's.

I have an '06 GT 'vert. I would like to get 4.10 gears too. I am rather anal about my 'Stang and I don't want ANY whine or gear noise. Can anybody recommend a good installer in the Cincy area? I heard there was a guy near Batavia that was really good, but I lost his name. I've heard a lot of horror stories about gear changes, lube leaks and gear whine afterwards. Like I said, I want it done right the FIRST time.

From personal experience Paul's Automotive did a set of 4.10's for me a few years ago. They were perfect no noise going forward or in reverse.

I'm thinking of going to a guy named Andy Law. I think this is the guy in the Batavia area.
My son had 4.10s installed at Paul's and had it in there like 4 times because of a persistant pinion seal leak afterwards. I had a set of 3.55s installed in an '85 GT at Paul's. That install went OK. Paul's is pricey.

I'm still considering. I spoke with both Andy Law and a gentlemen from Modular Depot. I have a concern about picking up gear whine, which I DO NOT want. The fellow from MD assured me there would be no whine - period. Andy was not as sure. Andy said he couldn't guarantee absolutely no whine with any ratio above 3.73. He said if I did have a whine, it would be slight. Since I now have 3.55, 3.73 wouldn't be a big enough change to warrant the change. Both Andy and MD quoted me the same price. Both places sounded to me like good, dependable shops.
I'm just a bit gun shy because I had a 2000 GT and had a guy (highly recommended) from Brookeville, Ind. put in 3.73 gears and totally screwed it up.

If you have Ford Racing gears you should have little or no trouble. Just avoid FRPP gears with part numbers ending in M.

I've been on my FRPP 4.10 gear for 3 years now, and not a bit of whine. It was my daily driver for 2 of those years, 70 miles round trip.
