2000 gt. I was driving down 125 the other day, all of the sudden the car started loosing all power and died as soon as I hit the gas. The car started back up but died as soon as I hit the gas. The fuel pump isnt coming on, I bought another one off of some guy on here. But then I noticed I am not getting any juice back to the fuel pump. My inertia switch is pressed in. Where is the fuel pump relays on these cars?

I bought a relay but I dont know were it goes.

look under your hood near your battery for the little black box power distribution box right behind the battery.

Its in there look in your owners manual or shop manual for the location in there. Did you check to see if you have any codes at all?

Just wondering if you had been doing any work under the hood lately? There can be a number of things that are making your car do this.

1. Fuel pump could be going bad
2. Filter could be really dirty
3. You have a bad Crank or Cam sensor
4. Fuel Pressure regulator may be going out( Remember your pump in these cars pulses and do not just run all the time like the return systems)
5. You could have a ground on the ignition or harness not getting a good connection.
6. Check your EEC Fuse and fuel pump fuse under the hood.

Try these for now. We will need some more information to help further.

Does the car start and Idle or will it just crank over? Can you spray some brake parts cleaner in the intake and make the car start( don't use starting fluid )? Does the pump prime when you hit the key?

Pump doesnt prime. Fuel pump checked out. Fuel filter new. Fuses all good.

When I turn the car over should the rpm's go up? I heard that if it dont I have a bad cam sensor. But would that cause the fuel pump not to come on?

Does anyone have a diagram of the grounds on the car?

then it may just may be your pump. There is a simple way to test it. Take a 12 volt tester (either a light or meter) and test the harness to see if there voltage going to the pump when the key is on. you will have to have someone turn on/off the ignition for it to work. if you getting juice then you pump is probably bad.

yeah we tested it no juice at all. Do you know if a cam sesor is bad, will the fuel pump not kick on?

If you have a pats issue it wont let the PCM send voltage to the pump just thinking.

has to be a relay or something simple

I know everyone says the relay is in the pcm. but when we stop at smyth or w.e they have a fuel pump relay for 12 bucks. We could just not find it.
