Your brake wiring from the pedal to the rear end of the car has a direct short. Should be a red wire with lt. green tracer. If the car is a stick shift the wire goes straight to the brake lights, you'll have to access the harness under the carpet and check for wires rubbing on something. The main rear harness disconnect is behind the drivers kick panel (done any interior work lately?). If you cant find any defects with the harness you can pull the bulbs outta the 3rd brake light housing (they have a different ground than the other ones) if the short goes away its in the 3rd brake light harness. If not I would pull all the bulbs outta the rear and check each plug with a meter to see which one is shorted. If the car is an auto the wiring also goes to the PCM to raise the RPM's a 100 or so when the brake is on at a stop. That is a Light green wire and runs along the dash, that could be rubbing on the dash frame. I had this in my hatch a couple years ago, I ran a screw through the harness in the back hatch panel. Good luck.
