just wondering i have a 2006 GT mustang with 32k miles... and when i start the car to idle it starts ticking, when i rev it up the tick goes with the rev. is this common in the mustangs? it sounds like the injectors clicking but i walked out of the store and i can hear the ticking from about 15-20 feet, and i highly doubt the injectors make that much noise... can anyone help me out please?

I think there is a TSB for this? Ask John, he'll know.

Mine is noisy like that at idle...almost sounds like a diesel sometimes. It goes away when i hammer the loud pedal though.
I'd definitely take it in to have it checked out.

If you are sure its not the injectors ford does have a TSB I believe also on cam phasers for the 3v motors the 5.4L 3V's in the trucks where bad for these a ticking noise ford relesed different phasers with a change I believe the Mustang was included on that TSB cant think of the number though.

the car is not under its warranty anymore, it expired in march and i took it to ford and they were going to charge me 90 bucks just to pull it in an look at it... my check engine light came on awhile back and i was running shitty gas through my car at the time cause i just didnt have the money for 93. when my engine light came on i ran shell v-power gas and injector cleaner though my car and the light went off and has never came back on... so i dunno if that has anything to do with it or not, but i also heard it could be your timing gears? or something like that.. but i heard they only go bad if you run low oil though the car for a very long period of time.

sorry not the timing gears but the cam gears, iv heard they can cause this ticking by running low oil through the car for a long period of time..
i would definatley take the valve covers off if you think that its something besides the injectors we had a truck in our shop and we found the one rocker arm bearings had failed and tore the cam up and all the lash adjusters were collapsed

just cleaned it up and popped the hood, and did the ole screw driver test, on the valve cover and around it no ticking, on the injector rail nothing but ticking... so iv put some turbo blue in it to help clean them out and hopefully that will make them less noisy if not, im going to have it checked out
