When I was in the process of removing the pinion shaft the !!!!!ing bolt broke off. It looks like all that's left is the part of the bolt that has no threads on it but I can't tell for sure. The shaft has slight sideways movement but no end to end movement. Has anyone had this happen? Any ideas? Thanks Jeff

are you talking about the cross pin in the carrier?

Yes I am. I took at look at the bolt that came out it has 7 or 8 threads on it depending on were you start counting at. I don't have another bolt so I don't know if any threads are left in there or not.

ive not had this happen but the best thing that i think that you could do is get a left handed drill bit and if you get a hold of it you should be able to get it out

This can be a royal PITA. There are toolkits just for fixing it. Try Etoolcart.com. They have oddball stuff.

I did have that happen to me too. Luckly there were no threads left on the pin and it slid right out. Good Luck.

Sometimes you can take a magnet and get the rest of the pin out as long as there are not any threads left in the pin

Tried the a magnet no luck. The special tool was a failure to.

It's out! BFH and large drift pin, sheared the bolt with 3 hits.
