i have been looking into putting a 4v mod motor in my 90 GT. if i do i want to carb it. i just have a personal vendetta against fuel injection. lol.
here is the problem...i dont know anything about mod motors. i know i will need a k-member, and a bellhousing for my C4 to work. but i'm curious on wiring, and anything else that will have to be changed for it to work correctly. Also which would be a better choice, a 5.4 nav motor, or a 4.6 Dohc?
any info is extremely appreciated. i should probably stick with the pushrod motor, but since i don't know anything about mod motors, it makes me want to do it even more. lol. thanks.

It shouldn't be too hard. You will need a Sullivan intake to use with the carb and you will need an MSD Mod 6 to control the ignition but other than that its not hard. THe down side is that the Sullivan limits which heads you can use since its intended for 99+ c heads with the tuble port design. Mfield had some adapters made up to bolt it on a set of b heads though. I think the intake and/or heads might require some work to match up a sullivan to a set of Navigator heads. The 5.4 will also be heavier since its a cast iron block instead of the aluminum one used on the 4.6's.

Doesn't Edelbrock make an intake that comes with the electronics to run the engine?
Not sure if it's out yet, though.

Doing my swap,... the wiring was the easy part.

I think the edelbrock stuff is for a 2 valve though.

I was wrong on the sullivan...the 5.4 intake is made for navigator heads.

C heads came on 99/01 Cobra, 00 Cobra R, 03/04 Cobra, 03/04 Mach I, Mercury Marauder, Lincoln Aviviator, Lincoln Navigator, Ford GT, and the GT500. Not all of them are the same though. The port design varies a little between heads as does the flow.
On mod motor cars the power steering and power brakes share the hydraulic system.

So that wierd brake booster is basically useless if you have manual brakes and steering correct? I'm fully re-wiring from the dash forward with a painless harness, so I will be putting the mod 6 box under the dash. Is there any other misc wiring that will have to be done? I'm guessing the C.O.P., and sensors plug into the mod-6. The fuel injection wiring is deleted since it will be carb'd. Then you just wire the box into the chassis....correct? Lol.

Correct, if you have manual brakes and steering you won't need any of the stuff from a mod motor car. Mfield should be able to help you a little more on the wiring for the mod 6 since he has a carb on his 4 valve.
