Hey all was curious as to what would be a good build?Been reading up on mod motors and been hearing all kinda of crazy stuff 4.6 4vbuild,? 5.4 build ? Been playing with cars for quite a few years now and was wanting to get back into it last car i owned that was any fun was a 73 challenger with a 340 out of a 71 dart.Just got a 96 gt with 4.6 5 speed but all stock with alot of miles on it.Would like to maybe build a 4v maybe out of a lincoln? but i have read someplace that is not a good motor to build.Any pointers to start out would be great. thanks

What are your plans ??? N/A, Turbo, S/C, NOS those will play a big factor in what you build ...
You will not find a better place on the net for info and a GREAT group of people !!!

Something I would suggest is figure out what it is you want to do power wise such as Nitrous, S/C, Turbo, or N/A like he said above. Then when you know what you want to do power wise plan wise build your suspension first. No point in making mass power and not being able to put it to the ground so you might as well do the suspension first. Just my 2 cents. Good luck to you.

There are some great advantages to mod motors. They came with some pretty fantastic parts. Mk VIII's can be great donors for some parts the easiest way to bolt in a 4V is to find a 96-98 Cobra donor car since there are some parts you will need that are Mustang specific and have been made obsolete by Ford.

Yeah was thinking about going turbo but thats way in the future i think from my viewpoint, and yeah not kidding about suspension issues already hung new balljoints on the front and its not fun going sideways in a turn at 65 in fourth gear somebody spit on the road lol ;)but im going to have to rebuild my rearend anyways was going to go with 3.73s to retain something of crusing speed on highway. i have seen some people talking about the new twisted wedge heads from trick flow would love to get my hands on a set but will they outflow a stock 4v?or for that matter a set of ported ones?just seems like so many options to go with i was almost thinking of something i seen the other day at work the new lincoln 4 doors can't remember what it was but we worked on one and it had a 4.2 v8 4v in it are those any good as far as high rpms?sorry all running on little sleep i could run on forever....hehe thanks again guys for the help:D

Definitly gotta get at least 3:73s in the rear. I would suggest some subframe connectors as well, help strengthen that uni-body up in the twisties. Power wise in a 2V your best bet is forced induction. From what I understand the new Trickflow 2V heads will probably put you right around the same HP number give or take as a stock 4V but TQ numbers should be higher on the 2V. Something else to consider on your 96 is if you want bang for your buck do the PI swap. Im just now starting to do it on my 97 and so far Ive gotten the heads, cams, intake, and gaskets for around 600 bucks total.
