**Newport's Monmouth St Car Show Aug 23!!!**

As some might know Chris and I are in the Scroungers Car Club. On Sunday Aug 23rd, our annual Monmouth St car show will be held on Monmouth in Newport KY. It's the same show that used to be behind the floodwall in Newport.

All cars are welcome!! There will be food, music, vendors, etc. We might try to organize a corn hole tourney & may be having a model car contest as well. As of right now, we are already expecting to get 400+ cars so it will hopefully be the biggest turnout in the show's history.

If you need any information, feel free to pm me. Chris and I are assisting in judging and I'll be helping people register and doing door prizes. Registration is only 10 bucks!

Thanks Scott :) we'd really love for you guys to make it out. I am really looking forward to it and it is awesome being part of the show and sponsoring it- it's going to be a lot of work but well worth the effort! I just hope the weather cooperates.

Please if any of you can make it out, we would appreciate it. If you dont want to register you dont have to so you can come in for free! You dont have to stay the whole time and you can come anytime you want! It is very important that we get as many cars as possible there... if it is a good turnout, we will try to have 4 shows next yr.... shooting for it to be similar to the stuff they do down in somerset... we will have burnout competitions, more of the city shut down, etc if this yr's show is successful!! :D :bigthumb

We will also be having a model car contest and cornhole tournament. Trophies for Top 40 plus BEST: in show, mayor's choice, chevy, ford, mopar, muscle car, hot rod, motorcycle, paint, engine, interior, original, unfinished, club participation, ladies choice, best truck, import and prize for the longest haul! And club members cant win so it wont be all political at all :)

Swap meet for your hot rod needs and store fronts will be having a sidewalk sale
Newport has worked hard to rehab this old part of town
It is a great backdrop for a car show
All the mom & pop stores will be open
Any kind of food you can think of
Watering holes will also be open for a cold one
DJ and live feed on WGRR

Coming from Eastgate-
-Merge onto I-275 S toward US-52/KENTUCKY (Crossing into KENTUCKY) 11.9 mi
-Merge onto I-471 N via EXIT 74B toward NEWPORT/CINCINNATI. 2.7 mi
-Merge onto KY-1892 W via EXIT 3 toward NEWPORT. 1.3 mi
-Turn RIGHT onto MONMOUTH ST/US-27. Continue to follow MONMOUTH ST.

Once you get close, follow the cars. You shouldnt be able to miss it. Gate to actually enter is at 10th & Monmouth :bigthumb

Awesome, awesome guys! Hopefully a bunch of you can make it out. And good deal Jeff, I will be looking for you. I get to pick best ford and the ladies choice trophy so I am pumped :) Whatever I say goes, as long as the vehicle isn't already picked in Top 40, in which case I have a 2nd choice.

I was asking if I could reserve some spaces so SBZ could all park together, but the club prez said it would be a hassle to do that... As cars pull in, they will be directed to the bottom of the street (6th) and we will work our way up (10th).

Like I previously said, if you dont wanna register, you dont have to You can just bring you car and stay a couple hrs. Doesn't matter if you get there at 10:30am or 3:30pm, we just need a lot of cars there so we can get more money for next yrs show and try to have 3 or 4 separate shows next yr.

Forecast is 74, partly cloudy and no rain whatsoever :)

well I'm a total idiot, I didn't even see this thread lol. We had a nice group of us meet up and head down. I managed to snag best interior, which was very very very very surprising to say the least. Show was excellent again this year. tony with the maroon, bagged, turbo'd PT that was next to me again took some great shots with his camera. When he loads them into his photobucket, I'll post some up.

Awesome, congrats to those of you who won trophies at the show and thanks to those who made it out.... duh, I shoulda realized that truck was yours, relaxednoma.... I have seen it a couple x's. And the pt cruiser was definitely nice :) It was a crazy day and we could not have asked for a better turnout... seriously. Now lets see what the city has to say about next yr :) I dont have a final count, but there were def over 400 cars in and out throughout the day, plus those who left because there was no space.

The best part was after the show was over, we were cleaning up before the street re-opened.... there was this middle-aged guy walking up and down Monmouth aimlessly.... all the way from 11th down to the river, trying to find his car.... he couldnt find it and it was the only car still on the street.... he had his chairs, cooler and all 4 of his doors were open. He was trashed and made for some great entertainment til we left. But we had to call the cops on him,,,, since he said when he found his car, he was driving to Dry Ridge.... how comforting is that? He couldn't even walk straight and was looking for his car on the wrong side of the road, 8 blocks away from his car.

Now I'm not trying to bust anyone's chops here but instead of having "ENTERTAINMENT" from one of your possible club members, don't you think the better thing would have been to offer driving his car to Dry Ridge or possible calling a cab? Car clubs are supposed to be a camaraderie and unity... I see none of that with that comment or what was done. Now before someone goes and gets all defensive. Answer this what would you want your fellow club member to do?

Forgot to mention.... we also called him a cab. Our prez took care of it all.... we were just observing as we were cleaning up. The guy was not crazy or obnoxious or anything... the cop basically told him he couldnt drive and the cops stood there while he locked his car up while the cab was waiting for him.

It's bad enough that you can't have fun like you use to, but we defiantly don't need our fellow enthusiast hanging each other out to dry! JMO!
