My neighbor (72yrs old) and I always talk cars and he mentioned going to the Glen Este Speedway on Tealtown Rd. Said it was where the ballfields are now. Looked it up and found this. Pretty cool. Wish it was still there. He said drag racing on the backroad was a weekly event.

Very interesting, I like that old time stuff.
My dad told me stories of an old drag strip that used to be near Lunken Airport, back in the 1950's.....

Wow that's awesome to see never knew that one was there... my grandpa always told me about a drag strip that you can kinda still see on 222 on your way to Felicity. It's a corn field now but you can still see the strip.

My grandpa has told me about that dirt track that used to be in Glen Este. He said after the dirt racing was over it was time to hit the back roads for some racing. He also said that he would race at Nicholsville at that drag strip. He raced a Oldsmobile but I cant remember what year it was.

Yep, it was in Nicholasville. Just a few minutes down the road from me. There is a 'lil Pony Keg there. That store used to have a old flyer posted on the wall. I casn't remember the publishing date. I want to say 1940's or '50's.

I remember Bruce Gould Sr. telling me stories of him racing at Glen Este Raceway. Maybe Gouldstang (Bruce Gould Jr.) will chime in. When he briefly told me of his race days of his past. His eyes lit up.

It's a shame, all the fun local stuff is gone...
