anyone here really familiar with Saleens? If so I've got a q..... I checked the Saleen history on the 85's and according to Saleen there were only 128 made in 85 this one has a 132 number..... the guy on craigs statest there were 140 made... I know they have vin tags to show they are real Saleens but still how do you tell real production numbers and if it's an actual one?

If the Vin is in the Saleen registry as he states and the plate and paperwork is with the car I would take it as legit. Contact the registry and run the Vin. There are way to many Faleens out there to pay a premium for them.

cool thanks TC (thecollector) lol had a Magnum P.I. flash back there... I was just curious on the numbering being as Saleen states they only made 128 and this one is number 132 just doenst make sense. I'm sure there are a few they kept or used as test cars or something but just wasnt positive.......
google how to identify a 1985 mustang saleen. First add has a clip out of a mustang mag. States that there were 140 of them in 85 and I believe 2 in 84. Maore info out there. Google is your friend.

Like others say check with Saleen but I do know in the early years, at least the first year they would skip numbers to make production seem higher

I checked a Saleens for sale web site and it stated 128 were made is where I got that number from...... http://www.saleenmustangsforsale.com/saleen-history that makes sense on the skipping numbers to make them seem higher....
