So my brain is turning again after discovering Ackbar's thread over on TTF. Most of the pics are gone so it's hard to follow.

I know a few guys on here have done the conversion, so I'd like to start off with a few questions.

What are the advantages of a hydroboost setup over the stock fox setup? Does Hydroboost run off of vacuum to power the brakes or how does that work? Is there any weight savings involved with going with this setup? I know the space alone would be really nice to have especially on a turbo setup.

Secondly, for those of you who have done the conversion, now that you've completed the swap, how would you recomend doing the conversion?

I'm sure I could sell my almost brand new 93 Cobra master cylinder and booster for probably the same amount as a hydroboost unit.

I also already have the maximum motorsports 3-2 port conversion and 94+ pedals that I think I could incorporate into the swap.

I think this would also be a good time to hide some wires :coo1:

Crap, just realized that my pedals are from a 94-95 car which did not come with hydroboost. Does this make a difference?

I thought you were the resident brake guru? lol.. j/k man. I have no idea, I was going for the most space I could get and that's why I went the maximum motorsports manual kit.

James its not that bad. You have to drill a hole in the fire wall for one of the bolts and depends on what pedal assy you have. I think Craig and Joe swapped to cobra pedals but not sure, I kept my 85 pedals and cut the shaft off the old booster and welded it to the hydroboost shaft. Not bad but took some fitting. It uses the power steering for pressure. As far as weight savings I dought it.

Hahahahaha dick...

That's what I'm thinking, it's going to be tight in the engine bay!!

Does it help with braking at all or does it just create more room and not rely on vacuum for assist?

I dont think it uses vacumn at all. You can run a big cam without sacrificing braking because it dont rely an vacumn for the brakes.

As MFIELD stated, it uses the powerstering to assist using hydraulic pressure from the pump thats why it is referred to as hydroboost .No vaccuum. THe brakes should perform like any fox chassis car with this system

So what's the hype about?

I dont know that there is hype, I did mine because I needed the room for the engine

Gotcha, I've heard of a few people doing it and everyone was really impressed. I just never heard what made it such a good thing. Then again, I assumed it was larger than the fox equipment, the unit on the sn cars was gigantic in comparison.

I did it to gain some real estate for the mod motor. Wasn't hard to do. I'll be driv'in this thing around after the front end gets squared up and I'll let ya know.

Cool, I'm interested to hear. If I don't gain anything but space, I'll keep my current setup.
