I wanted to light it on fire!!!! Had a CHEVY 350 in it:eek: Dont understand why someone would crossbreed the two:confused: Is this a common practice nowadays?

I don't get it. There are tons and tons of after market parts for Fords out there so why go to the trouble of swapping a brand x power plant.

Blowpastyou
09-06-2009, 04:26 PM
Because it is a known fact that the LS1 is far superior to a SBF. For instance a fella can take for instance X cam, X heads and exhaust, on an ls1 and make 450 to the wheels all day! All motor a SBF is hard to do that.

Plus parts are way cheaper for chevy stuff

Yes, and you can throw arp rod bolts and rev them to 6800-7000 no problems!

I didn't think LSX parts were any cheaper than stuff for new fords, but then again I don't own one so I have never paid all that much attention to them.

Even diehard chevy fans know the mustang chassis is very hard to beat these days. Personally, i think anyone who swaps brands should not be allowed to build a car. If you want shit-vrolet power, buy a camaro. Next thing you know someone will be putting a honda motor in a mustang. Just my opinion.

Honestly I dont see a problem with crossbreeding brands. All that is what guys started doing after WWII put the biggest motor you can in the lightest body to go fast, better known as Hot Rodding.

How about a Nissan motor into a 60's Stang?????

How about a LSx in a Civic????

Yeah TF&TF for me. Sorry, I'm a purist.

BBF in a Fox before a Chebie.

Now a LSX crammed in a civic would be pretty fun.

Really? I guess the whole build thread is on Honda Tech before IB (Internet Brands) took over.

Not like a Chebie 250/300 I-6 can't be boosted....Clifford Research intake, blow thru Holley setup......

What about a Ford I-6 blow thru in a Fox body????

Why would it be any different, in a hatch?

Shame on you too!

I'm not a fan of cross breeding, but I just don't see the "why go through the hassle" of it.

Hell, I never liked seeing all the SBC motors, in old hotrods. Build what it came with, brand wise. I have no problem, with a 460, in a fox body. Mild cam and 10's all day.

Brand loyalty is stupid. I have had Mazda and Chevy powered VWs, Ford and Chevy powered Volvos, a Chevy-powered Ford, and had a great time with all of them except the Corvair Bug, and that was because someone else hacked it together.

Here's how I break it down fellas:
Foxbody is the best hooking chassis out there, plus is a lot lighter than the LSx platforms.
LSx is makes impressive power with much less expensive mods than the Fords. 450whp is extremely easy in an LSx, and I love the way you can zing em.

I can understand and LSX in a stang for drag race purposes I guess but what about the older stuff like 29-40's Fords I don't get why you'd put a chev in those and especially when it's just a crate motor not really modded..... It's not like you couldnt put a stroked 302 in it just as easy and prolly for the same money.....

There's a gunmetal fox on CSS with an LSX 6.0l and a big turbo. That thing is titties.

Made over 600whp on real low boost, and a stock bottom.

I have a SBC in my Pontiac Firebird and I even catch grief from die hard Pontiac fans. It may be ghetto, but if it fits, run it! lol Besides they guy next to you at the light wont be expecting it...

zooooooooom

Now if money were no option, it may be a different story.

Still hatching my plan for the LS2 GTO swap into the 69 Bird.... ;)

the worst part about this particular mustang that I looked over was it was clean. no rust. great floor pans. ect. needed some touching up on the interior but come on the car is every bit of 15+ years old.

Thats the reason I snatched up my notch! One of the cleanest notches around, I will swap the LSx in, but I am not doing body work.

IMO, if you're working hard for the money that goes into the car, do whatever you need to do to enjoy it. A buddy of mine was contemplating doing a TT SBC setup in his supra. I was all for it, I think it'd be awesome. It's modern day hot rodding.
