A freind of mine is shopping for a diesel truck. He is going to Louisville later in the week to look at a 2005 Super Duty with the 6.0L. Is there anything special to look out for on those trucks?

Have someone (at a ford dealer) pull an Oasis report to see how much service dept action it has seen. If it has a lot of driveability claims I would stay away from it. Most of the injector issues and programming updates were taken care of by 05' model year but some can still be turd's.

Oh yeah all can suffer from EGR cooler failure (presents as loss of power white smoke in exhaust) and some have an issue with head gasket failure. From my experience if it's been chipped or turned up in any way I would steer clear, 6.0's dont stand to the test of time like the 7.3's did especially when they've been hammered on and "tuned".
