I've carried for a long time with the work that I do (electrician/project manager/estimator). I've been everywhere from Grand Rapids, MI, Kansas City, Missiour, Lima, Dayton, Cincy, Lexington, Louisville. You get the point. I've been pulled over more than once with a loaded gun in my console. So I thought before I keep pressing my luck here I'll just get legit. A cop I know gave the class at the FOP in Silver Grove and I was supprised just how easy it is to get. Anybody with half a brain could pass the class and the field exercise.

Hes awesome, very friendly and hes licensed more people in the state of Ohio that any other instructor, you will never feel out of place and he did it for me all in one day instead of taking up my whole weekend.

Issue I have with CCW class is my schedule, once I fond something I can fit in, I will take the class.

Then finding something small enough to conceal on me......looking at Rugers again :)

Well, I am one of the expired peoples. Ok, so I go in with my orders, my CAC card, and my expired(by one month) ccw permit. I explain that I have been in Afgahnistan with the army, and that it expired while I was gone and I just want to pay the 25 or howmuchever it costs and get it renewed. The lady says, you will need your certificate to proove you passed the class and you will have to fill out that form over there. We can mail you your new permit. I said, what? Why? I have the card, therefore, I passed the class and have the certificate, and you have my fingerprints, my photo, everything, it's just a month past when it was due. Sorry sir, you'll have to blah blah blah. So, when I finally get back and don't have anything better to do with my time besides fill out forms and answer questions I already did, then I will renew mine. What a joke. If your driver's license expires for a month, they don't make you come up with all that crap, you just pay your money and go, obviously you passed your test, or you wouldn't have the license. /end rant.

They do if you live out of state.... lol on the Drivers License that is....... I grew up in Cincy moved to Indiana for about 5 years my L's were expiring so I figured what the heck I'll just get a new ohio one right.... well waited a week after my bday.... they told me I had to get my temps and ride with a licensed driver then take both tests and this was just two years ago so I was 34 I laughed.... went to the license branch by the Argosey renewed my indiana one....

Dave, Hamilton Police Department puts on an excellent class. My wife and I took ours there. They usually do it in the evenings, 2 sessions of 5 hrs. at the PD, then 2 hours at the HPD range on Headgates.

Click HERE (http://www.hamilton-city.org/index.aspx?page=195) for the info and the link for the registration form.
They use the money to help fund their Honor Guard.

When you go to qualify at the range, they provide all your ammunition (included in the price), and a handgun of you don't yet have one.

Glad to see the numbers keep going up. Especially since Ohio is fairly new to the Concealed Carry World.

Any Stats on how many folks (with CCW) have actually had the need to pull their weapon ?

Who does classes in the Dayton area ?

My neighbor drove up to Lima for a 12 hour/1 day class. She paid $80.

I got a 380 myself (Bersa Thunder 380 CC), I just cant ever find the ammo for it. So hopefully some day I will get to shoot it. I have 20 hollow points but don't want to shoot that for target rounds. :( Where did you get your ammo?

Unless your loading your own, or have a 'hookup' it's tough finding ammo right now, with everyone scarfing it up, and hoarding it.

Call "The Brass Kings" 248-674-1860

I paid $38 per hundred rounds of non hollow points "target practice" and $39 per 50 rounds of federal premium tactical hollow points for carry or home defense:bigthumb

If you want to take a class that will actually teach you how to use the weapon.

Check out Tactical Defense Institute.
They are great. I hope to take all their classes over the years.
