99 mustang removed the 4.6, and installed that driveline into another customer v-6 car.
owner wanted a BB, and i have always wanted to do one of the 99up cars with a BB, so here goes.
heres where it starts. just back from the body shop. waiting its turn for teardown.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/Shop%20stuff/100_2771.jpg
large pile of parts waiting.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/Shop%20stuff/100_2774.jpg
hiding in that pile is a slightly warmed over stock 460 i built at home in my 1 1/2 car garage, waiting on me to find a building.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_3093.jpg
then tear down began
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_2965.jpg
using a 95 5.0 k member, hooker swap headers, and my k member spacers for the fox bb swap, flaming river rack, and manual brake kit, and brake pedal from the 6 cylinder car, i started the test fitting
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_3113.jpg
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_3154.jpg
then put in the tub arms and coil overs
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_3153.jpg
and slide it into place for mock up
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_3155.jpg
fit in there better then it does in my fox body :smt102
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/Shop%20stuff/100_3164.jpg
got the kill switch wired in
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_3711.jpg
yeah, its in the trunk lid.

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_3713.jpg
tucked every thing thru the car all nice.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_3714.jpg
noid mounted
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_3715.jpg
box all mounted
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_3716.jpg
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_3717.jpg

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_3718.jpg

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_3733.jpg

So what happened to the coupe?
Gearhead559
09-30-2009, 04:32 PM
my coupe? sitting in the corner of the shop, waiting for me to get all these other projects done..lol
hell i have several other builds going on for customers at the moment.
most pf which can be seen here http://gearheadzautomotive.myfastforum.org/forum2.php&sid=13e18489770932dabb4fce0a3071185c
03 terminator car with a hellion kit im rebuilding the engine in
94 dodge stealth im rebuilding the engine in
99gt with a bb engine build swap, basically and bumper to bumper build.
first gen rx7 with a sbf going into it.
another 90 notch 408/tremec car im doing random stuff too
last gen rx7 pulling motor and having one built, and redoing a bunch of stuff on
86 gt t top super charged car, and i have been redoing stuff on, and every time i turn around he wants more done on(with isnt a bad thing)
89gt turbo car here, that has had one issue after another(fix one problem, you find 4 more)
plus other random cars through out the day...so i keep rather busy..lol
just havent had time for my notch. after getting screwed over by the last body guy, i have decided to just let it sit for the last year or so, and just havent had time for it. one day...hopefully this winter, i can get to finishing the body work on it, and laying some paint, and get back to finally putting it back together for the last time. and working its bugs out.

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_4973.jpg

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_4979.jpg

:D
Gearhead559

lots of room on the driver side
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_5003.jpg
not as much room on the passenger side, but even the mod motors have less here
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_5005.jpg
most of the room you gain is around the frame rail.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_5008.jpg
with the stock 94/95 k member tho, you have the 5.0 mounting mounts to work with the fox swap mounts. doesnt give much room up front tho
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_5004.jpg
lots of room from the back. making trans swaps a breeze. and the nice thing to, the driver side header comes apart in the car so you can still remove the trans with ease.(unlike a 2v with long tubes, which sucks i know, i am doing one this week)
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_5006.jpg
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_5007.jpg
but anyway on with some updates with the car.
trans lines are in, and tucked for the header to clear them. which you cant see them in the pic cause i used my bender to tuck them in real nice.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_5008.jpgI'll try to get a pic from under it tomorrow.
mounted the coolant jug on the frame rail, since the t stat housing sits higer then the radiator cap, i'll be running the cap in the upper housing to keep it from getting air pockets trapped for now, till i can do a custom radiator and cooling tank for the car.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_4995.jpg
these cars always had ground every where, so i and putting ground points every where tucked away for the stock wiring to ground on.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_4998.jpg
made a delete panel for the stock shifter hole, going to be running switches and maybe a gauge in there. and mounted the hyfire box there for easy changes at the track

Gearhead559

been a sleepless night for me, but the nice part about it is, when i have the motivation, i am only 20 feet from the shop..lol
but got some holes cut for the gauges to check fitment, the tach is going to be tight on the crash bar, but i can make it work
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_5025.jpg
making sure the door bars clear the arm rests
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_5026.jpg
at this point, my car is donating alot of parts for this build. hoses, alternator and pulleys and so on. your welcome tyler
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_5022.jpg
had to move the over flow jug to clear the alternator ...
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_5024.jpg
pics of the trans lines
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_5030.jpg
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_5027.jpg
ran some wiring for the alt and starter, and got the nitrous stuff fitted.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_5033.jpg
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_5034.jpg
braided lines ran , and found a rare fox body clutch cable hole grommet

line lock mounted and all plumbed
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_5073.jpg
dry ice to freeze the floors, and get the crap off way easier
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_5074.jpg
hardest part is this header..after you have done it 20 some times, you can make it look easy...lol starter did need re clocked
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_5076.jpg
other header in
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_5075.jpg
ground clearance(this side hangs lowest)
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_5077.jpg
shifter hole delete, with switchs
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_5081.jpg
fuel pump is mounted
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_5082.jpg
should be rather quiet with the mounting design i came up with
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_5083.jpg
and plumbed into the rest of the factory evap line.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_5084.jpg
got plates bent up for the cage, and ran some more wiring that i was needed, should be able to sit down and wire it all up in a few hours. and the carb is going thru cleaning, getting the last of thing ready for the fire up, going drop the drive shaft off tomorrow to get shortened and so on
Gearhead559
01-27-2010, 12:07 AM
got the back 1/2 of the cage fitted, the rear down bars are welded all around(we tipped it forward then rolled it back into place
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_5087.jpg
carbs all done and ready
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/tylers%20build/100_5085.jpg
