changing efi to carb

i am in the process of converting a 86 roller 302 over to carb well im having a hard time with distributors i got a distributor from a 1985 5.0 mustang and the distributor is shorter and skinnnier for the oil pump shaft concerned that it wont make contact or go over the oil pump shaft?i was told that the 85 5.0 were the same distributors?if any one can help id appreciate it.the motor im converting is from a 1986 lincoln town car and the intake is turned opposite of the mustangs.

Distributor will be the same, you must have gotten wrong one....

The block, and cam gears are in same position, also make sure it has steel gear, not cast....

I'd say it was miss boxed or they gave you the wrong one. Where did you get it from?

i got it used.so a 1985 mustang 5.0 cam WILL be the same?
