Who around here can shorten an 8.8? Any ideas how much this is going to cost?
I'm putting a mini tub kit in my car soon; how much should i have cut off each side? Im looking to run a 325 series tire.
thanks for the help!

Whoever you have do it, make sure they have a jig to weld it back up. The common amount to cut it is 1.5" per side. Mine is cut 3/4" per side and works, but if I could go back it would be as I stated. I also have a 325/50/15 BFG.

cincy speed has a jig to be able to do it right.

Mine has 9" ends and is cut 1" on each side and has aerospace brakes. With a 6.5" Back space rim 15x10 it fits the Capri nice. I have 28x10.5W's on right now. The are the same size as 325/50/15's I have had 275/60s 325/50s 28x10.5s and 28x10.5Ws on with plenty of room. My control arms would keep me from putting the rim inward more. That is why they make offset control arms. If I was going to buy the rims again I would get 15x12's and figure out the math on the backspacing to shorten the rear end more. I think the 325s and W tires need the wider rim. Shortening the rear end more with less backspacing on the rim with the offset control arms would help by having less unsprung weight.

I would buy whatever wheels you want as far as backspacing is concerned, mount the tires, put the car at ride height, square the wheels in the car wherever you want them to be, and take a measurement from flange to flange. This way you get exactly what you want without guessing. My car is on a 15X12 with a 325-50-15 and I tucked them in the wheel well with plenty of room. If you have any questions call me at Cincy Speed.(Adam)
