View Full Version : Why does it never fail to be this way?!

It never fails that any time I am out in my Mustang and my wife is with me, every frickin' muscle car known to man is out and looking to play. But let me find myself alone in the car, and I am lucky to see a 2-door honda on the road amidst all of the four doors and mini vans. Even an older guy like me enjoys a little play on a wide open road from time to time (legal or not as it is). I am not about cracking the speedometer past 145 through traffic like an idiot, but the occasional play from a roll on a wide open stretch or even a dig from a stop light if the traffic is light is good to keep the blood flow going.
Just curious if any others have similar luck or am I the only person with a spouse that gets huffy, puffy for going more than 5 over the speed limit?

My wife likes it. We got to mess with a lambo last year in my mach. It pulled me on the highway but she loved every minute of it.

I obey all traffic laws and find it irresponsible to aggresively accelerate on public roadways.

Back in the day, I got passed on the express way by a VW Bug. I was like WTF. Looked at the wife, she was my girlfriend at the time, she said, You gonna let it pass you like that?. Foot went to the floor and the bug was long gone. As I was slowing down, come over a rise in the road and there is a cop on the left side. As I passed, I saw the lights come on. I just pulled over. Got poped for 80 in a 55. Thank god he didn't see me at a buck twenty half a mile earlier. Thank God for traffic school!!

It always seems to happen that way, you see a car that'll be a decent matchup but theres either traffic or somebody in the car that gets mad about it or something.

Duh, Talons are slow. I can't believe a Talon even dared to mess with you.

I got rid of my old wife. She hated riding in my 2000 Lightning with me. I always assumed merging on the high way ment triple digit speeds was the way everyone did it.
I called it blending with the other traffic. Lol.
I also refused to let her nondriving ass drive it.

My stangs not the fastest, but it's her "fast car". She does get on my @ss when I get a lil crazy in it though, but she's learning. I also let both of my bikes do the talking around here, and there isint a whole lot of ppl talking back lol...

I guess I am just the unfortunate one in this case. Count yourselves sooooooooooooo lucky!!!! Other than this little "quirk". she's a great catch. She has put up with me for 14+ years. That says a lot for her tolerance level! LOL!!! Have a nice weekend everyone.

my girlfriend is not to fond of riding with me when i get a little crazy, but we both leave at the same time in the morning in different cars and its like the race is on when we get to 275. I cant bring myself to tell her escapes are not fast!!!!!!!. i swear she is going to roll that thing one day.

Chris and I constantly are griping at each other about each others' driving.... Speed doesn't bother me, I know Chris is a really good driver, but since my wreck I had in 05 (minor accident, I was not driving, but had 4 wrist surgeries and tore all my ligaments, etc) I have completely cut out all the idiotic driving (not that I ever drove like that to begin with). It has shown me how easily bad things can happen and how severe one can be injured. For example, if it's dark or rainy, or dark AND rainy, I get totally paranoid and whatnot and try to be extra careful, no matter who is driving.
We have the same hobby though so I don't think we will ever get all huffy, unless we start racking up the citations.
The sad thing is that when I had my Acura (black on black w/black leather, rims, etc), every one noticed my car, especially guys... random people at the gas station and other people on the road. But since I got my Mustang, no one notices it hardly and it's like I don't get as many looks. And the worst part is NOT ONE ricer has tried to race me or mess around at all.... go figure, and I have had my car since last December.

I dont mess around like I used to for many reasons:
1. My chain of command would be TICKED if I was busted street racing
2. My girlfriend already thinks I have too much road rage and street racing would send her over the edge I think.
3. I am in a Christian Car Club and a Mustang Club and they are both against street racing, I agreed not to street race.
4. Insurance rates.
5. The cops are already looking at me with the reputation of all of the cars with mods around here (lots of wanna-be gangsters who think they're Vin Diesel with a fart pipe and an intake).
6. I think its more fun at the track. You have a slip to prove you won, the crowd saw you win, and that red light can be a b*tch!
Not to say I havent messed around a bit back in the day, tho! Lol.

Yeah I agree, we were in the Mustang on the way home from the car show in Milford. And a guy in one of those Talons was trying to mess with us. Chad was like, you think I'm stupid?!? It had a freaking roll cage in it, lol! I've never seen a car take off so fast from 50 mph it was freaking CRAZY!!
