Stupid Question

I know you can run 305 heads on a 350 chevy motor to raise your compression and the parts are interchangeable. I think I am buying a turbo 5.0 this weekend and I have heard that a 351 Windsor block is good for 1000 HP or more with good internals,and about 750 with stock internals. Will 5.0 heads be the same? I was thinking about doing a gt40 upper and lower and GT40 heads on a 351 block to make a little bit more power is this possible or am I way off base. Any advice would be appreciated. I was just wondering if 5.0 heads would bolt onto a 351 I guess is the question. Thanks

The windsor has 1/2 inch head bolts but you can take your 302 heads to a machine shop and have them drilled for them. I think 302 head bolts are only 7/16 so its not a real big deal.

Get better heads for the 351. Don't waste money to make 302 heads work, when you can put that money. into a good set of heads for a 351.

Does anyone now what the horsepower peak is for a 351 block? I know a stock 5.0 block is good for about 500 what about a 351w block?

69 and 70 351 blocks are the strongest. They should handle alot of power 700-800hp but for how long is anyones guess. If your plan is 600hp go with a stock 351 block much more than that I would buy a dart block. The main bearing size is better and the stronger block the cylinders will distort less. I wouldnt think of stock 302 or 351 heads at these power levels. big power =big expensive parts

Well I bought set of gt40 cast heads and a gt40 explorer intake today. I wanna buy a turbo kit this spring if the funds are there.What about a 351 block with ported and polished gt40 heads and intake would they be a good head for a 351 shortblock. I am gonna run the stock 5.0 shortblock until she splits then got to a 351 shortblock.

Still the same problem, with the head bolt size. And the intake would no longer work.
