From a technical stand point...the chase scene from Ronin rocks! Bullitt is my favorite though!

There was a great chase scene me driving a Yugo being chased by two midgets on a moped. This was back in my younger amateur porn career. The title doesn't matter unless you want to find it. Short Notice circa 1990.

How about "Dirty Mary and Crazy Larry"? To bad they get it in the end. "Looks like nothin' can stop us now." - HHHOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNKKKKKK!!! Train T-bones them. End of movie.

Oh. I forgot about "W.W. and the Dixie Dance Kings". Another cheezy but humorous flick.

I thought Vanishing point was horrible. Bullitt was good. Both gone in 60. Italian job. Death race was odd but ok.

IMO the best line in a car chase scene was "Dan Marino should definatley buy this car, well not this car cause I'm going to fuck this one up but he should get one like it."

I'd have to say the remake of Gone in 60 Seconds does it for me, when he pulls out of the parking lot in the Shelby and just lays the hammer down it's just like music to my ears.

The two I can think of that comes to mind is To Live and Die in L.A. and Short Time, Short Time IMO is probably one of the best chase scenes I've ever watched.

You need to define between "realistic" and completely "unrealistic" car scenes. If you want real life actually did it stunts then you have to say Bullit. If you want over the top aint no way that can actually happen then you could pick any newer run of the mill stuff.

Bullitt, Ronan, gone in 60 sec the new movie, Vanishing point is number one and the others are in order.

I enjoy:

1. Gone in 60 seconds (1974)
2. Bullitt
3. Smokey and the Bandit #1
4. Gone in Sixty Seconds (Nick Cage version)
5. To Live and Die in L.A.
6. Vanishing Point (1971)
7. The Dukes of Hazzard
8. The Getaway (Steve McQueen Version, 1967?)
9. Mad Max
10. The Road Warrior
11. The Chain Reaction (Austrailian film)
12. The Junkman
13. Smokey and the Bandit #2
14. Vanishing Point (1996)
15. The French Connection
16. The Great Escape (I know, it was a motorcycle, but still cool)
17. Cannonball Run
18. The Italian Job (original version)

That's all I can think of right now...

Although movies I have not seen are:

1. Ronin, that everyone speaks of here.
2. The Driver, Starring Ryan O'Neil, this chase supposedly rivals Bullitt
3. Corvette Summer
4. White Lightning
5. Cannonball (I've seen it but I do not remember it at all)
6. Gumball Rally (again, seen it, don't remember)
7. Hooper
8. Stroker Ace

I'm sure there are more I'm forgetting...

Ronin gets my vote, but I do like the bad boys scenes.

For a movie about cars, I still love Cannonball Run!

Ronin....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVaNBrYLvFg

Ive never seen that movie before.

That's not even the best chase.

This scene was filmed AT SPEED on the streets of Nice (in the south of France).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2d4ej1RPkEI

The camera cars where Porsche 911s (since the engine is in the rear, you can build the camera rig in the front trunk).

The actual movie is pretty damn good as well.

I almost forgot about Days of Thunder where they are destroying the Taurus and the Lumina. Just after they got out of the hospital.

Also. There is cobra, when he hits the nos in the 50 Mercury. Such a cool car.

maybe not the best but honorable mentions.

Another one for Bullitt. It pretty much set the standard. The chase scene from the French Connection (with Gene Hackman) is also another good one.
