Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer has confirmed with the Bengals and Charlotte police that wide receiver Chris Henry is still alive following a serious car accident Wednesday.

Still, the news surrounding Henry is not good.

Alex Marvez of Fox has reported that Henry is on life support and the situation is being described as "dire."

A fake Twitter account led to multiple outlets from newspapers to major sports and news blogs to repeat the information that Henry passed away.

The fake account purported to be by a NFL reporter, but it clearly is a fake.

We previously passed along reports that Henry's injuries were "life-threatening" and came after a "domestic situation."

I hope he's okay, that's REALLY sad. Damn does that boy get himself in some situations, it's been one thing after another. Unfortunately, this one might be his last, and all over a stupid domestic situation. What is wrong with people? I'll never understand the fighting/arguing thing. It's all so pointless. If you can't get along, move on, it's as simple as that. I've never been in a relationship where arguing and fighting were an issue.

ANYWAY, my thoughts and prayers are with Chris Henry. He's a helluva football player.

Man, I felt bad to see him get hurt but I figured it was karma. I really hope he pulls through. I wanted to see him playing next season.

Was listening to Bengals show on 700 WLW, Lap/Trump had mentioned that he had turned his life around, was planning on getting married in April 2010, has three kids.

Whatever your opinion on Chris Henry is, pray for the kids and their dad, it's not about football.

I've partied with Chris Henry many times and he is just like any other dude. He just got a big head cause of all the money he has but underneath he is a completely chill dude.

Fuck I hope he pulls through. Hearing through many layers however that a friend of a friend blah blah is dating C Benson's sister and she reported that he has passed. Hopefully that's BS.

Fox 19 in Charlotte just reported he has taken a turn for the worse and isn't expected to live. :(

A buddy of mine has a sister who is a nurse there. She told him that he has already passed. I hope she has bad info.

sad news indeed, it's not about football now but if he has passed RIP and he will be missed not only as a player but as a father as I heard he had kids. :(

Yes he has three kids....When Chad was in the hospital, I was going through the channels and caught a show about Chris. It was very heartwarming. How he was changing his life around and was feeling so lucky to be back into football...They had his fiance' and children on there also.

everything I've read or heard said they were having a domestic dispute she took off in his truck he run and jumped in the back and some how he fell out along the way....
