I,M DOING A 3550 SAWP AND WANT KNOW IF ANY OF YOU HAD TO USE THE SPACER BETWEEN THE TRANNY AND THE BELLHOUSING.
I,M USING THE MCLEOD 8660 AND A TREMEC 3550
TRANNY WONT SEAT ALL THE WAY INTO THE PILOT BEARING

I always run the thick .120 blocking plate, its part of the blow proof and keeps a broken clutch away from the block. Also be sure to check run-out on that bell, the last 2 I installed has .030-.050'' runout :eek:

i think what TonyT is trying to say is that when we went to fit the trans to the bell housing is that it seemed like it had went all the way in but it was still not snug with the bell housing. it seemed like it had a little mor than a half inch gap befor snug. i had read where on some of the trans swaps u had to use an aluminum spacer. i believe they said the spacer was like 5/8 inch where are using a macloed bell housing.

t5's and tremec take a different ring that gets tapped in the bellhousing on the mccleods

yea i know bout the ring diff. put the 1 on for the tremec

got some good input now i got to try them out
