Just wanted to post this incase anyone else has had or has a similar issue.... So I came home the other day from work car ran fine, went back out later car won't start.......... so after talking to a bud we figured might be a fuel issue it just cranked and cranked, so I put his pressure gauge on it and it has pleanty no problem, so I checked for spark spark is orange........ I've changed the ignition module, the rotor, the coil and still the same issue......... i'm running out of options here any suggestions.......

Check the relay under the dash on the passenger side. If that goes bad (which i have had them pop probably 5-6 times) it will not send power to the fuel injection harness. Sounds like the exact problem i've had on numerous cars.

what relay would that be? also I did check the neutral saftey switch and it's good.....

and will it still show pressure if the power isnt getting to the injector harness?

The orange round thing to the right.
All I know is that my car did the same exact thing and this was the problem. Im sure someone on here has one distributor you can try

From what i understand the pip picks up the signal sends it to the ignition module then so on and so on. I wish someone would get in here and chime in.

Is it not starting all the time or just after you drive it? What do the plugs look like after you crank it...wet or dry? If your getting spark and fuel pressure then you need to see if the injectors are getting voltage with either a noid light or volt meter. What car is it?

Check and make sure the ground wire ( orange) on the back of the intake is still grounded. If not the injectors will be stuck wide open

It's not starting at all, just cranks and cranks. I'm not sure on how do the plugs look I'm getting it into my buddies garage tonight hopefully, and it's a 1991 lx 5.0 minor mods nothing crazy.

Pitbull1052
01-07-2010, 08:09 AM
it's a 5 speed now but was an AOD from what I understand they are the same puter??? not so sure. but here's the numbers I think this is what you want E9ZF-12A650-CA now my bud's car was E9ZF-12A650-C no A at the end.

Pitbull1052

think that CA means california ? I was reading yesterday somewhere that the california emmisions cars have a little hotter computer in them to make them run right with all the emmisions stuff on them

Automatic Cars (A9P):
E9ZZ-12A650-CA
E9ZF-12A650-CA
F3ZF-12A650-BA

Manual Cars (A9L):
E9ZZ-12A650-AA
E9ZF-12A650-AA
E9ZZ-12A650-BA
E9ZF-12A650-BA
F3ZF-12A650-AA

I heard too that any 5 speed computer has a more responsive computer than any AOD computer...hope this helps you out.

I found this also on another website regarding computers.. you cannot use an AOD computer with a 5 speed.

"It is perfectly acceptable to use a manual transmission computer in an automatic car (but you cannot do the reverse). The timing curve and sensor adjustments are a little more responsive with a manual computer, giving you better throttle response and slightly improved 0-60 times."

dang that's good to know I was reading somewhere that a Cali computer is a little better too due to their emissions
