Recomendation for shocks

I am in the process of rebuilding the front end of my 85. I have already purchased a pair of Strange 10 way adjustable on the rear and another pair for the front not installed yet. A buddy of mine from Chicago told me not to use those on lowered vehicles cause it will damage them in no time. I on the other hand are a little reluctant to believe him. Can anyone chime in and give me some advise on what to use or would the Strange shocks be ok

The only time I see ride height being an issue would be aon 94+ cars that are in the weeds.
