Guys that have done it or know how to do it!

My mother in law is talking about giving me her yellow 96 mustang(v-6) Car is in great shape with black interior. I have done/ in the process of doing a 4cy to v-8 swap on my 89 coupe. What is all is different if any on the sn95 bodys. Thinking about doing a 5.0l fuel injected swap for insurance purposes. Can i do this on a 96 (not shure if all wiring except main harness is the same) Is this stupid to even consider? Would like everybodys opinion

Why not just do a 4.6 PI motor swap?

I don't know what all would be involved, in either 5.0, or 4.6, but it seems to me, the 4.6 would be the wiser one.

Plus, you could learn some of the modular stuff, too.

Having done a swap of a 96 GT 4.6 drivetrain into a 95 v6 shell, I would just say to use all the wiring harnesses and computer from a 94/95 GT. The only thing I would re-use is the body harness that goes to the lights and chassis. You definitely want to get the underhood harness(es?) from a 94/95 GT. I'm not positive if you can re-use the dash harness or not. I don't know if the 96 v6 cars had pats or not; the GT did. I would get some pin-out diagrams and compare.

When I did my swap, the PATS even worked when I was done.
