Now I'm not sure if this movie is real or not. I've read in places that it's fabricated, but if it is, that's not aliens, that's demons people are witnessing for sure! I was pretty freaked out watching the "real" video of the people. Pretty good movie, totally creeped me out! 7/10

Haven't seen it yet, but I want to. I'm pretty much a UFO nut anyway.

Yeah their claiming they get abducted and stuff like that, so if you like UFO's you'll like it. But like I said I think it was more demons then UFO's just my opinion....

I still want to see this, but FYI its almost entirely fabricated. The only true part is that there is a high number of missing persons in Alaska.
The doctor who's study the film is based around does not exist. This link, http://community.adn.com/adn/node/143292 , sums it up, but there is no record of anyone by that name ever registered with the Alaska state board, and her alleged personal website was created about a month before the movie came out. Also there were a few online articles allegedly from the local paper that talk about her doing a sleep study, but they were fakes. The fakes actually went so far as to put the names of actual authors from the paper on the fake articles. It was all part of the marketing campaign. A marketing campaign that they were actually sued over according to the wikipedia page.

Universal got sued over it actually. They created fake news articles prior to the movie coming out to make it seem more authentic.

It was definitely a badass creepy movie though.

I felt kinda let down when I found out the entire thing was fabricated. Now I look back and think "WHAT THE HELL WAS I THINKING!!" I'm glad it's fake. Still though, if I ever wake up and see a white owl staring at me through my window I'm almost positive I'll scream like a girl and defecate.

How do they get away with that?? Is it legal? It reminds me of the crap with Blair Witch Project, we went and saw that in the theater and all the way home I was thinking that those poor kids and what they went through, lol! I guess they do that to make more money off of the movie?

They didn't get away with it. They were sued. However I read they only lost 20k in the lawsuit, versus how many millions it made.

Blair Witch, Paranormal activity, and etc. are Mockumentary's. The writers and producers set it up to seem real and "live" with a 35 MM camera and lower quality Mic's to give it that real factor. Most of the time though in a film set up like this, the Actors/Actresses do use Improv as it also helps make it seem more reliable. They may not always use a "script" per say but it's always going to be fake from Hollywood, if not it wouldnt get enough viewers.

Haha... they're showing it in a MOVIE THEATER! It's entertainment. Why wouldn't it be legal? I mean, crap, Michael Moore and Al Gore actually claim their movies to be true and no one sues them. Michael Moore gets away with it all the time. He totally fakes scenes in his "documentaries" using actors and never gets sued for tricking people.

They weren't sued for making people believe it was real. They got sued for using news reels without permission. It was a copyright issue. Also, when they created the fake news articles they used the names of real reporters and real newspapers. THAT is why they got sued.
