Just picked up a new DeVilbiss Dagr airbrush to add to my collection of Badgers and other misc. airbrushes

I like the gravity feed and the removable cup. Seems to have a pretty smooth action and looks to be a well made piece. Next one I purchase will be an Iwata. Now to spend some time playing around with this one. First job it will be used on is some true fire flames on Kingpins black stretched and lowered CBR929.

Pick up a cheap Harbor Freight one with the compressor and get to it. Think it is less then $125 for that set up.

I would suggest going to Johnny's toys for a cheap one. They are a few bucks more for a much better unit. A buddy of mine had the HF one and it sputtered constantly. It had to be drawing air somewhere, I think it was the internal seals.

How well can you do the real flames? I would love to do my whole car in satin black with gloss real flames on the front. They'd jump up off that satin black like crazy and look soooo badass.

Where do you or people you know get their stencils? I am looking for a good place, whether local or online, but don't want to end up with junk......do you clean yours after every use so paint doesn't build up? What do you use? Thanks for your help.....just getting started and looking for any pointers you may have. Thanks

Gene PM sent

ascCapri you are welcome. Im not worried about the business thing. If I can get you into the art then its a good thing. The skill that people can gain and use is worth more the a few bucks and if you enjoy it and I helped then thats all the thanks needed. I draw, paint etc and I think more people should try it.

I wonder if my dad still has any of his airbrushes? He has been a commercial artist for 25 year and some of the work he did in the old days before computers was absolutely breathtaking. You honestly could not tell if you were looking at a photo or a painting. If he still does have anything left I'll see if you wants to sell any of it.

You ever pick up on it? Let me know what he has, you can never have to many tools in the box!

No I didn't get any of the art talent, my brother got all that. If you ever looked thru my powder thread, that is his green/silver custom chopper that he built and painted himself from the ground up. He even did the gold leaf and hand carved the leather seat. I'll check with my dad tomorrow to see what he may still have.
