I have a 92 coupe, with a factory style sumped tank. The problem is that the tank came out of an 86? I heard that the gauge reads backwards is this true? My guage alwats reads empty? Is there any way that i can test the guage in the cluster to see if it is working? Also instructions on how to do it?

thanks!

The gauge cluster and fuel gauge Ohm value are completly different.

For one,the gauge cluster is way different from 86 to 92.And also the Ohm value for the stock sender on an 86 tank is different.

86 fuel sender unit is 73-ohms empty, and 8-12 ohms full.
and I believe the 87-89 senders are also different then later 89 models to 93.
Ill get more info in a minute for you.
