Hey guys,

My parents' '08 Escape 4cyl. wont accept gasoline when you try to pump it at a normal rate... you have to just let it trickle in. And the engine light is on... Anyone ever have that problem before?

I'm going to go get the code checked on it today but I need to get this fixed for them and I have NO clue what the problem is...

Thanks

Vent line is clogged or pinched. Crawl under there and see if you can see the layout. it'll depend on how the lines are run.

I'll have to take it to a buddy's garage where its warm. I did some digging around and found the TSB on an escape forum...

frozen moisture in the vent tube.

Yep. Took it over to my buddy's garage who has a lift... the vent tube follows the same path as the filler neck, and its protected by a rinky-dink sheild... and since its nasty out, a lot of dirt, moisture, and junk clogged the vent valve. Cleaned it out, cut the hose, rerouted inside the frame rail according to the TSB. Seems to work okay...
