I have a 90 gt with a built 5.0. when u try to start it it will die and it will do that a few times until stays running but it will run rough until it warms up a bit. alot of people have told me it needs to be tuned or re tuned but the only problem is that i bought it as is so i dont exactly know 100% of whats all done to it and what size cam and stuff like that is has. so i need some help with this problem, if anyone knows whats wrong or how to help with a tune or any ideas it would be greatly appreciated, thanks...

A tune isn't the answer. Check the engine to chassis ground make sure the injector ground is grounded. Its orange and found on the back of the intake. If those are fine check the ground on the computer. If all that checks out. Check the timming, check the mass air. If all that is good, change your computer.

ok ill check all of those and see if something changes. i wasnt sure about the tune becasue alot of people have told me if it has a bigger cam and heads and bored and stuff the computer needs to be re flashed to accommodate the changes

scan for any codes after checking all your grounds...

As long as your injector size matches your mass air meter it will run decent. But the tune won't fix your problem. You also can try this after you check your grounds. Un plug your mass air, if it runs good your meter is bad. But if it runs worse than your meter will be good

ok i dont have a scanner but ill see wat i can do to check on that. yea i dont know wat size my injectors are, everthing thats done to it is how i bought it. it sucks because i dont know everthing that went into it u know. i just know wat he told me and wat iv found so far working on it. but how would a ground make it die wen u first start it and then run rough until its warmed up?

the computer is running on pre set values based on the maf, untill its at temp then adjust more specificly to coolant temp sensor, thats what id check, look for corrosion inside the connector. high resistance at either one will do some crazy stuff. also how long have u owned it? did this just start? u can also check and see if some on has installed a idle adjusting splacer to the iac. if so take it off and throw it away and retune.

What color are the injectors? Color will tell you what size they are. Also if you purchased it and it was running fine and just started it is not the tune. Check all the above and you can buy a OBD I scanner pretty cheap from Harbor Freight or online. It can check a lot of things even if your check engine light is not on.

No need to buy a scanner if you have a paper clip:
