You can find a good used shifter for around 75 bucks.. Hurst is a good shifter , So is a steeda tri ax , and a pro 5.0 , YOu will need a short throw shifter for a t-5 transmission . That is what you have in the car if its a stock trans..

what exactly is a short throw shifter?

A short throw shifter is the same as the shifter you have in your car but the shifts are a lot closer and shorter, A short htrow shifter has adjustabkle stops that you can adjust so you dont over throw your transmission when you jam in it gear.. What a short throw does it just keeps you from messin up the synchros inside the trans.. def worth the money and you wont be diss appointed. Real easy to put in.

Steeda tri ax , This is from there website, The shifter i would def recommend

Benefits

* "Offset-Preload" coil springs find third gear for you - so you won't miss!
* Most comfortable hand position of any short throw shifter
* Two position adjustable height
* Shortest throw of any shifter
* Smooth, confident, precise shifts

* Adjustable positive stops prevent over extending the shift lever, preventing costly transmission damage
* Compact tower design is easier to install
* CNC machined from billet 6061 T-6 aluminum
* Heavy duty construction. No welds, stampings, or castings to break
* Nickel plated pivot shaft won't rust or stain

just my .02 I've got a hurst billet plus pro shifter and I hate it! I'm swapping it out this weekend for a ripper with a triax handle...... the part I hate is that the threads for the handle are smaller than a typical one and the bolt pattern where the handle meets the shifter are further apart on the hurst so you can't just put any handle on it.

I got a Pro 5.0 off ebay used for $50 and i love it to death. Shop around and you can find killer deals on small stuff like this.

Hell if you're gonna spend anything over $100, check this site out. They're about the best deal i've seen for a Pro 5.0. http://www.konaracing.com/ They also sell a titanium handle that i've always wanted to get but never have.

I just swapped mine out today I'd part with it for $75.00 it's a billet plus shifter retail is like 190.00 it has the white ball, it has the chrome stick but not like the one pictured above, but I do have a custom shorty handle for it as well I had Kenny powder coat it black, it matches the black on my interior perfect.
