Whats a used 5.4 complete Navigator engine worth now a days. Complete with wire harness, TB to exhaust manifold! I have a lead on one and just got me thinking.

You can never have enough engines... Heck I've got 2 roller 302's, 1 302 mexican block, 3 289's, 1 351w, a 429, a 460.... and a 5hp briggs and stratton

THats just messed up, Like I said you never know, and I know a guy with a Strictly drag Mustang with a 502 BB that would like to make a car he can take to the strip and street.

Were there different heads between the years on thise engines? I know they are different then the 4.6, but among the 5.4s?

it is a 32 valve right? all u need is a eaton intake and blower and u are crusing a terminator!

MAnnnnn that would be wicked!!

I'd love to swap that kind of setup with a 6 speed into my lincoln if I hit the lottery

The '99-'03 5.4 4V Navigator engine where all the same. The heads are "single-runners" not like the earlier 4v heads. (98 and eariler)

Thats ALOT harder to do that swap on a navi motor.... not a bolton.

Thanks,I should have know that, considering the 96 cobra he was going to put this in and we were talking about the runners

So if I could get one for about 500 with roughly 65k on it, that would be a good deal?

yea like make the lower intake wider and make brackets blah blah very time consuming

Yes, you can make a 4.6 '03-04 cobra fit by making it wider,etc..alot of time and work. But I think he was thinking about a lightning 5.4 intake, which will not fit with the 4v heads.

I think a buddy of mine is going to pick it up for a project car of his. He just wants to make sure its what he wants and if anything falls through I will let you all know.

The prices are allover the place, have seen them for $400 to $1200, depending on miles, pieces, etc. With the prices coming down on 03-04 cobra heads (including 03-05 Marauder and 03-06 Aviator heads) you can just build your own 4v. But I think a complete 5.4 navi would make a great motor project.

There are a few guys running 10s with navi 5.4s, n2o, a sullivan and auto trans in fox bodys. Swap out those very low duration intake cams for some from a 96-98 Cobra (and advance them about 10 degrees) and they can make quite a bit of power without removing the heads. The Cobra cams will result in peak hp occuring in the low 5k rpm range so I'd recommend swaping all four cams for some with at least 220deg dur and a much tighter LSA than stock cams. I've seen some great gains with low lift cams that don't require new valve springs.

Also, Reichard Racing makes adapters for the stock C head n/a cobra intake and the 03/04 supercharger intake. http://www.reichardracing.com/46to54adapter.php
