View Full Version : Tremec 3650 Fluid change

Guys im changing shifter in my 02 GT its got 145k and im wondering what fluid should i go with royal purple synchromax or just the royal purple atf and does anyone know the capacity. ive heard its little over 4qts. thanks for any input:bigthumb

I believe its 3 qts, The royal purple ATF, dextron equiv.

I recommend the GM (Thats right) syncromesh stuff.....and you are right, it is a bit over 3 quarts.

3.2 quarts. Anymore and it can start to get notchy

Thats weird that everyone is saying 3.2 qts, Tremecs website says 4.2 and both autoparts stores (advance and autozone) are saying 4.2.

I always run 3 quarts in them and never have a problem

changed the fluid to royal purple 3.2 qts as everyone reccomended and switched to a triax shifter and still have the cursed 1-2 shift rake when the car is cold when it warms up its perfect. damn i thought the 3650s were supposed to be awesome. anyone have any other ideas ive read alot of stuff online and im not the only one with this complaint.

3.2 is what Ford figured out to be the correct fill to minimize notchiness.

I never liked the 3650.

:bigthumbthanks for all the help guys it looks like the 1-2 shift rake when the car is cold is just another common ford problem with the tr3650s. anyways thanks for all the input.
