This post is for the next guy that searches Google for the correct pilot bearing to use when replacing your T5 from your 5.0 V8 Mustang with a T5 from a 4 cylinder Mustang (the one I got was from an SVO)

Now before people start going on about how they aren't designed to handle the torque of the V8 and how the gear ratios are different. I already know. I bought my car with the same SVO tranny and it worked well for a while except for an awful shake every once in a while. It turned out this was due to the PO not using the correct pilot bearing. He used the V8 pilot bearing which had about 1/8" of slop on either side of the input shaft, causing a horrible shake in the car sometimes and literally "polishing" my flywheel with the clutch because of the resulting DA type action of the wobbling clutch plate. I plan on someday, when I'm not poor, doing a swap for a built V8 trans. I was also tossing around the idea of doing an AOD swap, but you guys said it wasn't worth the trouble.

Anywho, go to Napa and ask for a 6202-2RSJ bearing (I believe the ID is 0.60" inches approx and the OD is 1.75" or so). Anyway it's from some kind of Japanese alternator but it fits like a dream.

My car is like a new woman.

Enjoy.

Good info. I have used 4 cyl transmissions a few times and would just make my own brass bushing instead of the pilot bearing.

If I remember one out of a V6 ranger works too. Don't hold me to it but its something like that. Also I know summit sells one. Forget who makes it or the size but it works too.

This is what I love about having a lathe, I just buy one that has the correct ID and a larger od and machine it to fit

well yeah, I would love to own a lathe, it's cool that you have that capability

But for those of us who don't, this is a quick fix, the bearing was about $15 bucks though, not exactly cheap.

Here's some more info on Pilot bearing/bushings that will work when using a 4 cyl T5 behind a 5.0:

Autozone: MOTORMITE 14672 (bushing)
Napa: PGB P62022ZJ (bearing)
Timkin BCA 202SS (bearing type)

Thanks guys. I think it's important that we post this kind of stuff so that people can search for it online like I did. I had to search and search though, hopefully this will provide some quicker info for people doing a Google type search and they can find some options all in one place.

use bushing number 14656 and the pilot bearing fc65354 then use a 13\16 drill bit on the 14656 then have them pressed together. that is what i use on my car with no problems good luck.
