does it sound like a rotational thump or when the suspension moves?

I would check the bolts on the front sway bar (if you still have one). I had a similar problem with my WRX.

I have to replace mine this weekend. They pop when you turn or hit brakes hard.

Sounds similiar to the problem I'm having but from the front driver side...sounds like metal smackin metal at very low speeds...around 15-30. Whenever I hit a bump that's when I hear it.

it isnt a rotational thump as soon as the car gets to 3 or so mph up to maybe 15 then after that it stops

bearing or busted belt in tire
Check and make sure that the bolts for the calipers aren't working themselves loose. For that matter, check the torque on all the bolts. It doesn't take a lot of play to make noise from a loose strut bolt.
