well sounds like my car i got to replace the rear main and the trans needs rebuilt, i would start with a rear main seal and sounds like sincros are bad in seconds gear and the miss car might need a tune up

I kinda had the same problem a while ago where my car would miss and loose power and backfire. I checked the timing, there were 2 plugs behind the Upper intake manifold by the throttle body that were not plugged in all the way. I also checked for vacuum leaks and found a small one. After I fixed all that my car ran like new. Good Luck with your notch man!

what about fuel pressure maybe the pump is weak or the reg. is bad. i thought backfires came from vacume leaks or starving for fuel. i have a fuel pressure tester if you need one.

How many miles on the motor? If you need a rear main seal, and you have high miles, timing chain slop might cause some backfiring, if so its cheaper to find a used low mileage motor. And if your needing the tranny rebuilt you can find cars on Craigslist that are rusty as hell but run and drive good for fairly cheap that you could just swap everything over. Just my 2 cents.

My back fire was from unburnt fuel. Because those 2 plugs weren't in all the way, it didn't ignite all the fuel and it had some lost power. Just alot of small things to check. +1 on getting a new tranny. In the end with labor, a new rebuilt t5 is the better route to go IMO. You may want to check out astroperformance.com for your tranny.

is it backfiring or poping threw the intake. back fire is out the back?

The motor has about 159,000 miles on it. And the popping is definitely coming from the exhaust. And I found a place to rebuild the tranny for 1100, does that sound decent? That includes all parts and rebuild

Does that include removing the trans as well?! We will rebuild it with new Tremec parts, and warranty it for 759. That's you taking it out, if you want us to take it out, then it's slightly more but not much.

I like the sound of that price. How much if you guys take it out. And how long would it take? Its my everyday car
