i was trying to bleed my front brakes tonight and could not get my bleeder screw to open at all and ended up stripping both of them. is there any secrets or has anyone had the same problem?

when putting the wrench on the bleeder I always hit it with my hand to shock it loose rather than crank on it.

Vise grips and some speed bleeders will make your life easier.

anti-sleeze also helps.

I always start with a 1/4" drive 6 point socket to break the bleeder loose and for final tightening.

Better than a line wrench, which dad taught me to use....only he stripped bleeder in the process and I mentioned using a 6 point socket.

"smartass 13 yo kid!" he muttered under his breath!

Well the problem is that they are already striped and i need to get them out. I plan on getting speed bleeders because they are $18 a pair where as ford wants $ 66.20 for one stock one! I just dont know how to get it out.

you can break the bleeder off (what you can see) then use a drill bit and easy out to get the rest out

How much is a new caliper from Smyth?????

Two "loaded" (with pads) from Smyth for a buddys Civic was $70, the pads alone were $45, nice Raybestos pads were included with the calipers.

The air hammer piece is probly not worth it for one bleeder screw.
I suggest a new caliper.
New caliper from Orielly's is 50.99 unloaded.Usually stocked.

How about trying vice grips and if it breaks off an ease out.

Well I used vice grips and in just spins. And i used a torch and heated up the caliper around it and it still wouldn't budge.

Perfect time to upgrade to Cobra calipers.
