Anyone ever see this? What are your thoughts? Don't everyone run out all at once and hit your hood with a die grinder now

I think on some older cars it can be pulled off and look kinda cool but most of them just look like beaters.

WTF???? maybe a ratrod but these newer hondas...looks like shit in my opinion and will just help put them in the junkyard faster. I loved the look of plated bug when he did it....Chris did you start this trend?

Jessie, are you sure you want to throw stones. How many cars do you have? How many are done? Not to many there buddy. I think its kinda cool, 90 percent of those cars are really nice rides. You all are just hatin because they are not turbo mustangs (no one has done that yet).

I have nothing against those cars. I have had rice and American muscle. Your right, a lot of those cars are really nice. Nice paint and rims. I just dont see the point of the hoods. If its a flat color and not a show finish ok. But to do that to a mirror finish beautiful paint job its in my opinion stupid. Just like the jacked up cars with huge rims.

Is this like ricer meets rusty rat rod

being a painter i have to say i hate it. vw and honda do not have rat rods unless they were made before 1980. stupid stupid stupid. i like the clear coated bare metal thing but only in graphics not on a whole panel. i agree with jesse that this prob started with some crash parts with e coat primer that the cheap ass didnt get painted. the sun will beat the e coat down in just a few months. if they wanted that hot rod look they should have gone with a flat finish clear over whatever color they wanted. imo.

The point I am making is this. People on here seem alful quick to bash on other peoples shit. I know this is a Mustang board, but that doesn't mean you have to hate all other brands. That drives me up the wall, like on my car for example. I was at a show cleaning the car and I over heard some one questioning why I painted my calipers red, on a yellow car. I stood up and said its because I like it. I like when people build their cars for them selves, and not follow every one else.

Throwing stones? no... not soo much... my shit atleast has PRIMER on it... M'kay? Do I think it's cool? NO! Do I parade it around? NO!

Sorry, I'm not some ricer that runs around with rusty parts on his car thinking he's a cool guy...

Lets see, Glen, I own 6 vehicles...

'77 Mustang II... has a primered fender the rest of the car is yellow
'85 Mustang LX... ALL WHITE
'88 Mustang LX... ALL RED
'94 Mustang GT... ALL BLACK
'93 Mark Viii... has a white fender and the rest is gray
'04 Ranger FX4... ALL BLACK

So Glen, buddy... I'm gonna have to tell you to back off of me on this one... thanks guy.

:)

I'm not a BRAND HATER... but that thread is about a STUPID FAD...

Apparently the idiots at the car show questioning your calipers had NO TASTE...

I painted mine blue on my black car... if I had a yellow car, would I paint them red? Probably... looks good

I think a lot of people agree and respect your way of thinking, but it just doesn't stop them from saying something looks stupid at the same time. I'm all for being an individual...whatever makes a person feel good, rock it out. But, if you look stupid doing it i might laugh at ya.

lol it's wierd. The one thing I like is how it makes the paint look so much nicer on the fenders with the hood lookn all shitty next to it lol. Kinda cool, but I would never purposely ruin a hood.

Brand hater's hardly. My first car was a Honda (acura legend). It's how I learned things like electrical diagnosis, NVH troubleshooting, and rust repair/paint blending. Joking aside few people on this board only own blue ovals. I've sported Ford's, Dodge's, Toyota's, Honda's, suzuki's, kawasaki's, mazda's, Nissan's and I currently manage a fleet of GM's and BMW's.

Most members own a car that the board shares a name with. Regardless of what kind of car it's on the consensus seems to be it's a lame trend. We wouldn't instantly approve of rusted hoods on mustangs or any other Ford product cause it looks like something you see driving thru the East side of Hamilton. I personelly don't like lambo doors but I appreciate the workmanship and time to have them on a car. If a person intentionaly knocked out the top hinge pin of a factory hinged door to make the door sag on the jam to get a different look I would have a hard time finding something to appreciate.

On a side note Having sold a chrome yellow SN95 I would'nt have minded it having red calipers. I would have disagreed with blue calipers however but not on a black car.

It doesn't seem to be brand hating as much as it is a broadcast of opinion. I Like flat colored cars, rat rods, the cleared bare metal look, and just hoopties in general. I just can't understand why someone would go out of their way to make one part of a car look like shit.

If your calipers would have been a fresh set of brembo's or Bears would you think it cool to sand off the original finish to sport a rusted/corroded/oxidized look instead?

I am cool with doing your own thing too man but rusty. Also, only the first guy to have a rusty hood was doing his own thing. Wouldn't all the others be followers? Which is what your saying you don't like right? I love your yellow Cobra in your avatar by the way but if it was rocking a rusty hood for any reason other than waiting on paint, I would have to rip on you. Besides the girl in the photo would have had to have a tetanus shot before she leaned on it and some go-jo after. And I am pretty sure your not the first person with red calipers on a yellow Cobra (I have seen a few and I am sure you have too) which even though you like it (me too) makes you a follower of someone somewhere.

I guess your right, its not so much brand hatin. Its comments like Stangman's that drive me up the wall.

Just cause we drive Mustangs we are better than the import guys??? I see my fair share of clapped out stangs, as I am sure we all have. Jessie Sorry if you took my post personal. The point I was trying to make to you was do you like your rides? (I am sure you do or you wouldn't have them). Do you really give a shit if some one else said your a hillbilly cause you have a primer fender on your car? (Probably not, cause you like the car and that is ALL that matters).

I am not saying we should all love every thing we have the right to disagree and thats fine. That's what makes this country great.

And I never have thought I was the first person ever to paint my calipers red. I build my car for me. I have been told the car would look great if I took the wing off. But I like it on, so it stays on. I never said all of my ideas were my own, but I have never done something to my car just beacuse I was told it would be cool.

no hatred against other brands, but its pretty stupid imo, I could see rat rods, or maybe just older cars in general, but they are doing it to cars in the 2000 and newer, and thats kind of a waste of money... if I saw a stang like that, then I would lol just as much as at those cars
