View Full Version : FT: 1985 Mustang GT 5-speed for a "sporting" sub 2-litre, 5-speed car
Rewrite in progress...hold on.
My project plans have changed, and I would like to entertain the idea of swapping my 1985 Mustang GT for what would be a better platform for my plans.
Here's the basics:
1985 Mustang GT
92k miles
VERY clean grey interior (ALL electrics work!)
Repainted dark red exterior which needs to be repainted again (car appears to have been originally a Jalapeno Red car)
T-tops with new seals (I've driven it in the rain a couple of times, and so far they don't leak...seriously)
No rust on frame or hatch, a couple of small rust spots on the body - nothing an afternoon with a grinder couldn't take care of
New SPEC Stage 1 clutch and starter motor
Wing appears to be from an SVO
This is a really clean, unmolested car, and would make a great platform for a fun street car (which was my reason for getting it). However, my plans have changed and I have two choices...cut off the T-bar roof and replace it with a solid roof or find something more suiting. If I do the latter, then I would be smart to get something small-bore and save money on brakes and tires.
Here is what I want:
Small, two-door, Japanese, American or European
Built in the 1980s or 1990s
5 or 6 speed transmission
Engine in the 2-2.5 litre range, naturally aspirated
2WD, front or rear
A "sporting" platform - Examples: E30 BMW, VW GTI, Nissan 240SX or Sentra SE-R, Acura Integra, Civic Si, Dodge Neon ACR etc.
I would prefer something that errs of the side of "solid" rather than "light".
Basic mods. Nothing crazy. Reliability is paramount.
What I don't want:
Anything ricey or drifty. Stupid ass body kits and 18 inch rims are unwelcome.
Chrome shit anywhere, unless it's stuff I could sell on eBay easily.
What I don't care about:
Paint quality - it's going to get painted
Interior Condition - It's coming out. As long as there is a dashboard and a steering wheel, it's cool.
I may be interested in selling outright for something close to $4000 - cash is king.
If any of your import driving buddies out there are looking for a clean 302-powered car, send them my way.
PM me here, email at eugenefine@gmail.com or 513.549.3463.
If it doesn't sell in a few weeks, I'm going to go the other route and start cutting. :)

99 views and nothing? Not even a low-ball offer or a trade for a 1995 Geo?
I found an old rally car that I would like to buy. $3000 cash takes it home. If not, I'm going to start tearing this thing about and prepping it on Monday.
