This shit pisses me off! During my senior year of high school, my sister was diagnosed with breast cancer. While I was in the Marines 3 years later, my Dad was diagnosed with lung cancer. Get discharged and with in the same year both pass on..Then my mom gets lung cancer, and fights the shit for 10 years, finally passing on in 2003. Now my other sister has been diagnosed with breast cancer today???? What the fuck?!?!?!?! The shit that kills me the most is my dad was the only one who smoked??? My sisters are saints, and I'm having a hard time here. My parents were both in there 40's when they had me ( i wasnt planned), so my older sisters basically were there for me when I had questions as I got older. There husbands being like older brothers to me. I really question my faith here, how can such good people be put to the test repeatedly??? FUCK YOU CANCER!!

And all the money spent on cancer research you`d think they would have the shit figured out. I was 13 when I was told I had a hereditary type of colon cancer and underwent 3 surgery`s to get rid of most of it. I have overcome most of it but since it was hereditary my daughter also had it. I just had both of my boys at Childrens Hospital in Cincy for Genetic Testing which said they was clear! I do feel for you and only wish there was a cure. Hope everything gets better for you and your family!

This web site has some great and fun items for cancer patients and supporters. http://www.choosehope.com/ I have a sweatshirt that proclaims in big bold letters FUCK CANCER You get some strange stares when you wear it in public but I have also had some people stop and say they agree! Thoughts are with you and your family.

I lost a grandmother to cancer and it wasn't pretty. My wife has lumps in one breast and fortunately they came back benign. (sp?) I'm a big supporter of the Wood Hudson Cancer Research Center because of this. They have a huge repository of all the cancer cells that anyone in the tri-state has ever had. They use those cells to do studies and to find what makes those cancers behave the way they do. Just recently they found a protien in the DNA that accerates prostate cancer growth. It's a way to help fight the cancer but still not preventing it.
Keep you head up, more and more people are surviving cancer. Each and every year more things are coming up and the precentages are getting better. Don't live your life worring about her future just focus on the here and now. Be there for her and support her as a return for her being there for you.
I hope it all works out for you and I'll keep your family in my prayers

Wow, what's even more sad is that your story isn't even that unique. Cancer is the effing devil man. A friend of my moms has a 12 year old daughter that's been fighting cancer for years. They transplanted a cadaver bone into her arm and then thought she was going to lose her arm. It takes the young, it takes the old, it takes smokers, it takes non-smokers.... it just doesn't seem to care.
That's one reason we've partnered the The Rooster Challenge with Susan G Komen, just to do something to make a difference.
These are the kinda people that are REALLY making a difference tho. A client of mine does cancer research and is developing a drug that's really on the edge of technology. It honestly excites me a little, and gives me hope. They should be in human trials by 2012, it their hope, and will likely be with terminally ill brain cancer patients.

Mike,
First let me start by saying, Thank you from this Navy veteran to a Marine Veteran, for your service and many thanks to your family members both survived and having passed on, for supprting your decision to serve.
No one can explain why evil seems to lurk and work harder on some families than others. You have certainly had way more than your share. I am told and have been told repeatedly that when a person strives to live the good life (trying not to get religious yet lol), evil works exponentially harder to deter our efforts of moral, good, faithful living. The stronger our will to live the good, faithful life, the harder and harder evil tries to destroy the living. Two of Evil's biggest weapons are death and suffering. Giving in is not the answer. Giving up is not the answer either. You are a Marine, you know this to be true.
Often times when I have faced trials (nothing like you have gone through) I have had to look at the situation as a measuring tool. I must be and my family must be doing something so right to make evil work soooo hard at trying to get me to cave in to it. DON'T!!!!!!
You are clearly a VERY loving son, brother, father, and husband. I have not seen to many avatars with a Dad holding his little girl with so much pride and love in one's eyes and stature. DO NOT LET THIS WRECK YOUR FAMILY!!!!
You must no matter what triumph over this very, very evil and low point in your life. If there is anything that I or any other person can do to help you, to talk to you, or just hang out with you and be an ear to listen on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon's please, please, please PM me or any other and get with us. I know we don't know each other from ADAM (LOL) but I am here for you all the same. That is the least I can offer you as a fellow stangbanger and human being. We have no children so other than my travel with work I am fairly free. I'd be more than glad to visit and just listen any time.
Now a moment of religion. Sorry got to go here for reference:
Do not blame this on God!!! Remember that Satan does have the power to take life. Yes he does. When Satan approached God and challenged God that he could turn Job (OT book) to evil, the first terms were, "You can do anything to him BUT, you cannot take his life or the lives of his family." When Satan was unsuccessful and Job remained faithful, Satan approached God again and God even allowed Satan to take the lives of Job's family but he was still restrained from taking Job's life. Satan still lost and gave up, and God rewarded Job for his faithfulness and courage. This clearly defines three things. 1.) Satan can take life. 2.) God has supreme control in the end over Satan. 3.) God rewards us for remaining faithful and loyal to Him. Man's choices early on unleashed this imperfect world that we live in. When man caved to sin the world was no longer perfect and death entered in.
None of us are perfect and without fault, especially me. I only try to do better and help remind others of what I know they already know in their hearts.
I will cease and hope that others who may disagree understand that I am only trying to console you and support you in staying on the path you clearly have chosen.
Last - Remember that you WILL see your family again some day, but it will take you staying faithful through your life as you have and not giving up on your beliefs.
I will be praying for you and your famliy. Helping you is helping me.
Respectfully,
Chad

Thanks everyone for the kind words, and links. Chad your post hit the nail on the head, and I appreciate it. I talked to my sister this morning, and her attitude is great. So she's ready to kick cancer in the junk, and through her faith I'm sure she'll win this battle. Thanks again, and I'll keep ya'll updated.

Great post above. I'll add that cancer is not a death sentence. You can beat it but you need to make drastic changes in your life and diet to do so. There is a website I visit regularly that has case study after case study of healthy people after being diagnosed with cancer. Check out and share 3000health.com

Stay positive, and stay focused on living your life. I decided that recently...I'm going to do all of the fun things I want to do, regardless of cost. Only b/c if I save up and save up and invest and make all this money...and then my biological clock runs out, it's over! I've seen people who smoke their entire lives live until they're 85-90...while I've seen vegetarians die in their 40s. Like someone already said, bad things happen to good people. GL man.
